CNN’s Toobin: ‘We Saw Less Proof Of’ Trump’s Responsibility for 1/6 Violence

The Captain Ahab committee makes up the January 6 Committee. The Moby Dick of the January 6 committee is Captain Ahab.

This hearing is about the pursuit of proof that Trump was criminally responsible for the events. They are seeking to satisfy the political blood lust of liberals like MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross, who, as we’ve noted, described her lurid Trump fantasy this way:

“You are the one who plays the music on the TV program.” Cops, and march this guy out, and put him in the back of a police car, and hold his head, and everything.”

According to this standard, committee hearings on last night were insufficient, according to Jeffrey Toobin, CNN chief legal analyst.

This morning, appearing Neue DayToobin claimed that the two-fold goal of the committee was to accomplish these goals. To prove Trump’s defeat and the actions of his associates, the first was to show that they were aware that Trump had lost but continued to try to reverse the election results.  The second was to show that Trump encouraged or took responsibility for the violence.

Toobin stated that Toobin believed the hearing was successful for the first count. Any possibility of criminal prosecution hinges on the second charge, which is the one of encouraging or being responsible to violence. Toobin also acknowledged that Toobin’s defense was less strong.

We saw less evidence of it. However, I believe the greatest challenge is the President’s accountability for violence.

Toobin tried to downplay his pessimistic outlook by saying the committee made “promising starts” at proving Trump responsible, but then Toobin backtracked. He admitted that:They made an even more positive start by proving to the president that he was losing and his staff that they knew it.

If the panel fails to convince the Senate on Trump’s guilt for January 6th’s violence, then the hearings are a failure. The Democrats, political speaking, will be treated the same as Captain Ahab.

CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin admitting on New Day that the January 6 committee hearing was facing its “biggest challenge” in proving that Donald Trump was responsible for the violence of that day was sponsored in part by Verizon, Dell, Intel, Applebee’s, and SoFi.

JOHNBERMAN: Jeffrey. What did the committee promise to do last night, according to you? This was an opening statement. It wasn’t a court matter. But if it were, what would they have to say over the next two week?

JEFFREYTOOBIN: That’s what I would do.The main objective here is to accomplish two things. The other is to show that everyone knew that the president lost, including his family. This was an attempt not to discover the real result of the election. They were trying to reverse a decision they already knew was true.

Und Second, that the president or his entourage encouraged the violence. This — and this’s going to happen — we didn’t see much evidence of. However, I believe the most difficult challenge for the president is his responsibility for violence.Although I found them to be a promising team, it was not enough. Their success in showing that the president was not among his followers and that they knew it proved to be more encouraging.
