CNN’s Oliver Darcy Can’t Handle Project Veritas Embarrassing the New York Times

Project Veritas made a shocking sting video showing Project Veritas’ embarrassing behavior. New York TimesMatthew Rosenberg, a reporter for the newspaper, denounced “woke” children at his paper and talked about how reporters can be terrible writers. CNN’s Oliver Darcy was able to manage it. On Friday, he wrote an article defending the liberal newspaper headlined:

Reporters who report on the spying tactics of the right-wing group are targeted by the New York Times

The political fight is as usual between right-wingers versus those who are not ideological nonpartisans. Darcy’s piece was summarized in Reliable Sources Newsletter (emphasis added in original).

This week Project Veritas released undercover videos capturing NYT’s Matthew Rosenberg making a number of disparaging comments about his colleagues and the news media writ large. Due to some of the indecent comments Rosenberg made regarding his colleagues as reporters, these videos created a stir within NYT. But, according to sources I spoke with, it was seen by many NYT journalists as part of a broader harassment and intimidation campaign Project Veritas has waged against the paper for reporting extensively on the inner-workings of the group.

This right-wing group is headed by an activist conservative James O’KeefeThree reporters have been targeted by a particular attack in the last year: Adam GoldmanMark MazzettiAnd Michael Schmidt. Those three reporters stand out because they are the journalists at The Times who have authored a series of exposés revealing how Project Veritas employs spy tactics and relies on ethically dubious reporting strategies to target perceived liberals….

>> Take note: Sources told me that the NYT reporters have faced a “barrage” of “constant” harassment over their reporting on Project Veritas. According to me, Project Veritas has increased the vigilance of NYT journalists…

The “right-wing” side has “perceived liberals,” while the “right-wing side” side has “right-wing groups.” While one side is conducting an “intimidation and harassment campaign”, the other side “reports extensively on its inner workings.” Evidently, negative Times reporters end up feeling that they’re being “harassed and intimidated.”

This story was based on the assumption that journalism is liberalism and all conservative reporting about liberal media outlets is propaganda.

It is possible to question the ethics behind this type of undercover journalism. Veritas can trick reporters and producers into embarrassing statements at bars with a young, attractive woman. It is also possible to question how intelligent liberals see the world when they are caught in this trap.

Darcy, a media reporter like himself, finds it fascinating that liberal media outlets are reporting this way. Any reporting which makes liberal media outlets look bad is not something they are interested in. Veritas’ source was at least recorded and videotaped, although he may have been tricked. It’s a different source than the ones CNN uses to criticize Fox News. Given their hatred for Fox News, how can we trust their anonymous sources of information? Especially the many anonymous sources in Brian Stelter’s gossipy and profane anti-Fox book Hoax.
