CNN’s Erin Burnett Actually Fact-Checks False Voter Suppression Narrative

Uh-oh! Will CNN’s Erin Burnett face castigation  from her colleagues for daring to break away from the “Solidarity journalism” of her peers? A key dogma of this journalism is the fact that many states currently try to prevent voters from casting their ballots.

Burnett went against the grain by breaking away from the Liberal Borg in a long enough time to counter the story being told by CNN and other media outlets on the topic. This is Burnett’s response to Biden’s January 11, 2010 speech in Atlanta on the subject.

New York is one state that has been reliably Democratic in the United States. New York citizens must apply for absentee votes, as the Georgia law requires. Georgia permits anyone to apply for an absentee ballot. New York doesn’t allow this. New York has more restrictions. Absentee ballots can only be requested by certain individuals.

New Yorkers rejected a Constitutional Amendment that would have allowed anyone to ask for an absentee vote regardless of reason, by 55% to 45%, in an overwhelmingly Democratic State.

Let’s also take a closer look at early voting. Georgia has 17 days to vote under the new Georgia law. New York, however, only allows nine.

This is not to suggest that reforms in voting are unnecessary. Just to be clear, it’s not as easy as saying that all GOP-backed legislation is racist or segregationist. It is far too simplistic.

If it’s too simple, why not take the enormous step of federalizing the elections in the States? Burnett’s study of the real voting conditions in states leads us to this conclusion.
