CNN touted that it grabbed the first interview with Vice President Kamala Harris since the pro-life verdict in the Dobbs case, and anchor Dana Bash repeatedly pressed Harris from the left on Monday about taking all kinds of executive and legislative actions to permit more abortions, including scrapping the filibuster in the Senate.
Bash asked Harris six questions about abortion during the hour of 4 pm. This was it. Bash then asked Harris ten more questions during the six-hour hour. Two neutral questions regarding inflation were followed by a question on whether Donald Trump should face criminal prosecution in January 6.
Harris was impressed by Bash’s first question of the second segment.
DANA BASH – There will be mothers who are unable to provide for their children. Do you think the federal government will do more to help?
KAMALA HARRISIt’s an honor to be able to raise this point.Because I’m going to tell you this. And here is the obvious, abject hypocrisy. The people who state that they won’t allow women to make their own decisions, and that the government would rather interfere with that process, are actually the people who voted for the end of the child credit. They are also the people who voted for a tax cut to families for child care.
Bash created a list with left-wing pressure question.
Can the President do anything you have just mentioned with his pen without Congress?
However, What do you tell Democratic voters that they fought so hard for a Democratic president and vice-president, Democratic-led House, Democratic-led Senate? Do it now!Sorry, but I said, “Do what”, now do it. Act legislatively so that abortion rights are legal.
The filibuster is a way to get it done. Anderson Cooper asked President Biden if he was okay with the elimination of filibuster in order to allow voting rights to be passed and maybe even more. Do you agree with the elimination of filibuster to allow for federal legislation regarding abortion rights?
Is it possible to use the bully pulpit and say that you support it?
She wouldn’t allow this to happen:
BASH
HARRIS
BASH The door was kinda left open by him. Do you think this is where he left the door unlocked?
Bash was inspired by Chuck Todd and wanted to suggest that Brett Kavanaugh be punished along with other conservative justices, for lying about abortion under oath during confirmation hearings.
BASH: When Kavanaugh and Gorsuch testified to many issues at the confirmation hearings, you were a senator. Gorsuch stated that the decision had been confirmed many times. Kavanaugh called it precedent. There was a hearing at which you attended. Some senators claim that they deliberately misled Congress and the public. Do you agree?
HARRIS: They were not true. They didn’t convince me. They were not my belief so I didn’t vote for them.
BASH: Are you sure there’s anything that can be done? You don’t know what I meant — they had to swear.
HARRIS: It was obvious to me, as a senator sitting in the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee that they weren’t — they would do the same thing that I did. That’s my view. This was just my view. This is why I voted the way I did.
BASH: The big picture. Do you be concerned about the two Americas today because there are so many states with different laws, now that Roe V. Wade has been overturned?
HARRIS – I do not believe there are two Americas. If you take a look at issues like Roe and abortion, I think the majority of Americans are in favor of women having autonomy over their bodies. The majority of Americans agree on the necessity for sensible gun safety laws. This includes one gun owner I’ve seen.
Don’t get me wrong, but I do not believe that America has two Americas.
