CNN ‘Republican’ Ana Navarro Accuses GOP of ‘Targeting’ and Inciting Hate Against Gays

On Wednesday’s Don’t forget Lemon tonight, CNN commentator and liberal Republican Ana Navarro got her latest opportunity to trash her own alleged party over gay rights as she blamed Republicans for inspiring an alleged plot to riot against a gay pride parade in Idaho.

Lemon supported his liberal guest in an apparent win against Alice Stewart, a right-leaning CNN contributor. The CNN host introduced the segment by recalling that President Joe Biden held a “Pride” event at the White House with a laundry list of LGBTQ agenda items and then went to Navarro for her response.

A liberal CNN contributor, who calls herself still a Republican for whatever reason (as she will do in the segment), immediately complained about Republicans regarding the topic:

It matters, because it’s felt like this for the past few months. Republicans have declared war on LGBTQ through manufactured culture warfare, right? It doesn’t matter if it’s Florida’s “don’t say gay”, now it’s all over — it’s all all about drag shows. We can choose which angle of the LGBTQ phenomenon we want. — Targeting those who speak about it as being pedophiles — like “you are grooming children.” It is ignorant and wrong.

Stewart applauded Biden’s appearance, but stated that Florida’s state legislatures are “representing the willof the people of their States, the parents, who have been vocal, very clear, that their parents want to be able to decide how and how their children grow up.” Lemon protested she was mentioned transgender issues, and those laws were passed “for no reason.” Navarro lecturing her conservative colleague.

Alice, you know me and you are decent. This cannot be denied. We just heard that 31 white supremacists in Idaho were detained for plotting violence against a pride parade. A pride parade is a good idea. Because Republicans used this anti-LGBTQ issue as a prey to create fearmongering..

Further, she took aim at Republicans.

It is disgusting to me to see Republicans using culture warfare to get people voting. They won’t come for your children. They’re not coming to your house!

Blaming Republicans, Navarro attacked the 2004 reelection campaign of former President George W. Bush.

It happened because Republicans had been spreading anti-LGBTQ messages for several months. It’s been used — we’ve heard this before Alice. Both you and I are Republicans. This was a wedge issue that drove people to the polls by fear during the Bush campaign of 2004. It is exactly the same strategy. Because we’re feeding it into their brains, white supremacists will go to the gay pride parade.

CNN’s Don Lemon Tonight

June 15, 2022

Eastern, 10:41

DON LEMON: This executive order was issued in response to antiLGBTQ legislation that had been introduced by Republican-led states legislatures across the country. Ana, let me start by saying hello. This executive order is being praised by LGBTQ advocates.

It is supposed to safeguard children against conversion therapy and prevent suicide among youth — which includes a new initiative for foster youth protection. This initiative aims to protect inclusive housing and health care. Do you agree? What do you think?

NAVARRO, I feel it matters because over the last couple of months it has felt like there was this Republicans have declared war on LGBTQ through manufactured culture warfare, right? It doesn’t matter if it’s Florida’s “don’t say gay”, now it’s all over — it’s all all about drag shows. We can choose which angle of the LGBTQ phenomenon we want. Targeting people who refer to it as pedophiles, or “you’re grooming children.” It is ignorant and wrong.

LEMON: Parents would have to consent for these children. This makes it seem like they are making laws out of no good reason.

NAVARRO, Alice. I’m familiar with you and know that you are a good person. It is unjust. Listen, this is indefensible. We just witnessed how 31 white supremacists were detained in Idaho for plotting to attack and riot during a pride parade. A pride parade is a good idea. Because Republicans used this anti-LGBTQ issue as a prey to create fearmongering..

(…)

I find it disgusting that Republicans use and manufacture a culture war to push people to the polls by fear of, you know? “Oh, now they’re coming after your children!” They won’t come for your children. They’re not coming to your house!

STEWART : It is clear that what took place in Idaho with the gay pride parade was a travesty. It should not have occurred.

NAVARRO: Alice, why was it so?

STEWART That’s all I have to say. This should never have occurred, and the responsible parties must be held accountable.

NAVARRO – Alice, this happened because Republicans had been spreading anti-LGBTQ messages for many months. This is what they’re using, Alice. Both you and I are Republicans. This was a wedge issue that drove people to the polls by fear during the Bush campaign of 2004. It is exactly the same strategy. Because we’re feeding it into their minds, white supremacists will go to the gay pride parade. This has to stop.

(…)

Yet again it is a manufactured culture war to political ends. You have a problem if Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, or Marco Rubio are giving you medical advice.
