CNN Promotes Democratic Donor as ‘Republican’ to Trash Nevada Senate Candidate

Back on July 8, CNN’s AC360 Anderson Cooper, correspondent Kyung Lah and host Anderson Cooper gave a detailed report about a Nevada Senate race. Instead of discussing the economic and crushing losses businesses are facing due to the pandemics, they made it appear that abortion is the main issue. They emphasized the importance of abortion in their report. “registered Republican”Susan Fisher is turned off by GOP

Even better for liberals: the incumbent senator Catherine Cortez Masto made this segment into a web videoThe event featured Fisher and Senator a pro-abortion protest.

A closer review of Fisher’s campaign donations ShownThis was, at the very best, an inexplicable conclusion based on a NewsBusters Review. Silver State lobbyistIn 2002, Democrats received $5,785 in donations, while Republicans have only given $3,950.

Cooper insists on a tease about abortion. “dominating the Senate race in the key battleground state of Nevada” and in the lead-in to Lah’s report that “protecting reproductive rights” and Biden’s call to elect pro-abortion lawmakers was “a hot topic.”

Lah began the video with Fisher, a chyron and Fisher as if she were promoting Cortez Masto.

LAH: In the battleground state of Nevada, the balance of the U.S. Senate —

FISHER: It isn’t a political issue for women to have the right of choice.

LAH: — may lie with abortion rights supporters like Susan Fisher.

FISHER: Since I was 18, I am a registered Republican.

LAH: Are you angry about this?

FISHER: A nine-and-a-half on a scale from 1 to 10.

LAH: It’s quite mad.

FISHER: Yes.

LAH: Anger enough to vote against her party’s nominee for the Senate and support a Democrat.

Lah stated that Silver State has codified abortion in its constitution from 1990. So one might think Lah would mention that Laxalt has kept its established in his state.

But, alas, we’re dealing with CNN, a network where dishonesty and liberal partisanship rule (click “expand”):

LAH: Fisher is concerned that Roe v Wade could be overturned in the 2022 midterms.

FISHER: This is going to be an important issue for many races and in particular this state.

LAH: Do you know of any women who are just like you?

FISHER: We know a lot less than we think. You really are.

MASTRO : I would have voted for an abortion ban in the federal government if my opponent had not run against me.

LAH: The majority of Nevadans support abortion rights and incumbent Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is seizing on the issue to hammer away a Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt —

LAXALT: I’m Adam Laxalt. I will fight for what’s right.

LAH: — who was mounting a significant challenge backed by Donald Trump.

Lah dismissed Laxalt’s insistence, instead pointing to a recording of Laxalt saying “we’ve got work to do”As a smoke gun, on supporting Nevada live. That’s despite the fact that, if were a elected, a U.S. Senator wouldn’t be able to alter a state’s constitution. Rather, that’d be an issue for the state legislature.

Only at the tail end did Lah point out that abortion isn’t everything for voters, acknowledging that “the outrage front and center among voters is on prices affecting their pocketbooks” Some even have some “Democrats say abortion rights are vital, but so is feeding their families tonight.”

As for Fisher’s donations, a Federal Elections Commission (FEC) search for “Susan Fisher” and “Susan L. Fisher” from Nevada yielded 26 donations dating back to November 2002 with 14 going to Democrats and related groups:

  • $5,250 for Congressman Steven Horsford and five donations
  • Congresswoman Diane Titus (four donations) = $1,500
  • John Lee for Congress (2 donations) = $750
  • Senator Harry Reid (one donation) = $250
  • ActBlue (two donations) = $35

Here are 12 of her donations to Republican

  • Congressman Mark Amodei (four donations) = $3,000
  • Senator Dean Heller (one donation) = $500
  • Scott Hammond to Congress (one donation = $250)
  • WinRed (four donations) = $100
  • Romney 2012 (one donation) = $50
  • Nevada GOP (one donation) = $50

It’s safe to say it’s unsurprising for a lobbyist in a purple state. But to say she’s a sort of ardent Republican is patently absurd.

ANDERSON COOPER Question is what’ll — actually does? The key battleground state Nevada will see abortion dominate the Senate race.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: After Roe; Biden Signs Executive Order Aimed at Safeguarding Abortion Rights]

COOPER – President Biden has signed today an executive order that protects reproductive rights. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision last month, the White House announced that the Secretary of Health and Human Services was going to issue a report describing efforts to improve access to contraception and increase public outreach. It also said the Secretary of Health and Human Services is set to release a report highlighting the Department’s plans to provide additional legal support to patients and physicians and ensure privacy. The President called for more lawmakers to be elected this November, who will support federal legislation that protects abortion access. This is why it’s a popular topic in the Nevada Senate race, according to CNN’s Kyung Lah.

[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: After Roe; Abortion Key Issue in Nevada Senate Race]

KYUNG LAH: In the battleground state of Nevada, the balance of the U.S. Senate —

SUSAN FLISHER, REGISTERED RESPUBLICAN: Women’s rights to choose are not a political issue.

Nevada’s 1990 voters approved abortion access in the state constitution. Fisher, a young mother with two children, was among the advocates who went door-to-door to persuade voters. Fisher worries that this hard work may be lost in 2022, just as Roe v. Wade was overturned.

FISHER: This is going to be an important issue for many races and in particular this state.

LAH: Do you know of any women who are just like you?

FISHER: We know a lot less than we think. You really are.

SENATOR CATHERINE MASTRO (D–NV): I was the opponent. She would vote for a ban on federal abortion.

LAH: The majority of Nevadans support abortion rights and incumbent Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is seizing on the issue to hammer away a Republican Senate candidate Adam Laxalt —

ADAM LAXALT – My name is Adam Laxalt. I am ready to fight for the right.

LAH: — who was mounting a significant challenge backed by Donald Trump.

DONALD TRUMP: Adam Laxalt in Nevada is more reliable than anyone.

LAH: Laxalt stated that he would honor the Nevada State Constitution which protects abortion. However, audio taken by the Nevada Independent indicates Laxalt is trying to change the constitution.

LAXALT: Roe V. Wade has always been a joke. The whole thing was completely inventible. It isn’t a state that supports life. There is still much to be done.

CORTEZ MASTRO : We are shocked at the state of affairs in which women live. This is a state we truly respect and value the freedom of choice and autonomy that all women have.

LAH: The outrage among voters centers on the impact of prices on their pockets.

JESSICA RODRIGUEZ – Gas prices, groceries prices, housing market, and all that.

LAH: Tell the party at power what you think about their feelings.

RODRIGUEZ: You let us down.

LAH: In Reno, Democrats believe that abortion rights and feeding families are crucial.

TAURA COLEMAN – REGISTERED DEMOCRAT TAURA COLEMAN: I am a registered Democrat. I have a lot of questions about why.

LAH: Did you know that Catherine Cortez Masto has been on the ballot?

COLEMAN: Yes, yes.

LAH: Do you plan to vote for them?

COLEMAN, I may actually be able to help you. We’ll see. It’s all a matter of ear at the moment.

LAH: Senator Cortez Mazzo is traveling across the state, speaking to not only women, but also working-class Latinos. To energise Republican voters, Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, will be present in Las Vegas with Adam Laxalt. Anderson.

COOPER: The races continue.
