CNN Hits Biden from Left, Not Aggressive Enough on Voting Rights

On Wednesday’s Inside PoliticsJohn King from CNN argued that President Joe Biden is not doing enough to promote a far left agenda on voting laws. This was as he faced Terri Sewell (Democratic guest) on the subject.

King raised the second question about Derrick Johnson (NAACP president)’s latest criticism of President Obama:

The President spoke emphatically yesterday, as you mentioned. He did indeed say “Pick Your Side in History” and it was clearly stated in the audio we heard. But many of your civil rights colleagues — I will have you listen here to Derrick Johnson of the NAACP — said, “Mr. Presidential, this issue is fundamental.” What have you done in the past year?

King asked King: “What is your opinion on this?” After Johnson complained that President Biden shouldn’t have delivered his speech last year, King responded with the following question: According to the White House, the President had spoken about it some and had to deal COVID and other problems in the country. He is too late, however. But is he still able to change votes and twist arms?

When his Democratic guest did not take the opportunity to be critical of Biden, King then followed up by bringing up Congresswoman Bush being critical of moderate Democrats who are helping to block liberals from enacting their agenda. The CNN host suggested that white Democrats are out of touch with young liberals:

CONGRESSWOMAN CORIBUSH (D–MO): It is time to shift our focus — and give more attention to the people who stand in our way. These people are standing in the way for those who look like me.

KING: It’s that last part — Congresswoman Bush quite emotional there — “people who look like” her. I’m asking you straight out: Do you worry that these white older senators aren’t as aware of the urgency and this problem?

IHOP sponsored this piece of lobbying to support the left’s electoral power grab. Philadelphia also supported it. You can find their contact information here.

JOHN KING – You said yesterday that the President gave an emphatic speech. He did, however, say, “Pick your Side in History,” which he clearly expressed in the audio we heard. However, many of your civil rights colleagues — let me have Derrick Johnson from NAACP be our guest — stated that “Mr. president, this is an important issue.” What have you done in the past year? Listen.

DERRICK JOHNSON, NAACP: Well, this President is considered one of the masters of the Senate with more experience than any other President other than perhaps Lyndon Johnson. We don’t have to tell this President how to do it. We have to tell him, “You must get it done.” Editing jump

KING. What is your view on this? According to the White House, the President had discussed this topic a lot, and had to address COVID and other problems in the country. Is he too late? But is he still able to change votes and twist arms?

[CONGRESSWOMAN TERRI SEWELL (D-AL)]

You should listen to Cori Bush (a fellow African American member of the House), one of my Democratic friends. It’s not the older members, some have less patience — they aren’t to blame. The members think “Let’s just get it done!” You can listen to the description. Listen to her description.

CONGRESSWOMAN CORIBUSH, D-MO: We can expect more from President Obama, 100%, absolutely. However, our President is not going to vote. It is time to shift our focus — and even more attention to those standing in the path. These people are standing in the way for those who look like me.

KING: It’s that last part — Congresswoman Bush quite emotional there — “people who look like” her. I’m asking you straight out: Do you worry that these white older senators aren’t as aware of the urgency and this problem?
