CNN Demands You Vote For Dems If Trump Is The 2024 Nominee

On Monday evening’s CNN Tonight Laura Coates hosted a discussion panel on January 6, riot at Capitol. Conversation quickly turned to future of Republican Party, and whether Republican voters should elect Donald Trump as their nominee for the 2024 election.

Coates was the first to wail about Republicans still claiming they would vote for Trump if he was the nominee:  “Remember Bill Barr has said, that he would still vote for Donald Trump” she whined. “You have Bill Stepien, who I believe is working on a campaign of somebody who is against Congresswoman Liz Cheney who is promoting foundationally very much what Trump, who has endorsed this candidate.”

New York Times columnist Michelle Cottle jumped in and freaked out that “they’re not willing to let this go to the degree that it’s gonna hurt what they see as the party’s way to cling to power in this degree.”

Cottle continued her kvetching: “they are willing to keep putting up with, if not actively advancing, this complete bs story that this election was stolen.”

Scott Jennings is a public relations professional who has set the records straight.

To ask Bill Barr, a Republican that has stood firm as a Republican all his life to openly answer and say “your choices are to abandon any political value system,” I personally don’t think that’s fair. His support for someone else is already confirmed. His position is clear: he believes Donald Trump shouldn’t be nominated again. It is important to know that Republicans strongly believe that progressive policies are bad for the country. Bill Barr said this directly. It’s not because Donald Trump isn’t appealing to them that they aren’t interested in it being elected.

Parroting her party’s claim that democracy is under attack, Cottle shrieked “you have to decide whether salvaging democracy is more important than your political values.”

Correspondent Kasie Hunt proving once and for all that she isn’t a journalist whined that the purpose of the Democrat Party’s January 6 show trials is to prove Trump “criminally undermined our peaceful transfer of power.”

Jennings jumped in again to note how when it comes to picking a Republican presidential nominee “we’re going to cross that bridge when we come to it”

That answer wasn’t good enough for Cottle who demanded: “the way to drive that home is to make clear that no, you will not support the man who has been willing to burn down the system.” According to her, supporting the GOP nominee no matter who it is is “complete cowardice”.

CNN doesn’t get to dictate who the GOP nominee is and whether or not Republican voters support him or her.

LAURA COATES – You are referring to the past. Keep in mind that Bill Barr stated that he will vote for Donald Trump. Bill Stepien is an operative who, I think, is working for a candidate who opposes Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who supports foundationally Trump’s candidacy. It’s been a while since this happened. It’s team chicken.

MICHELLE COTTLE – This isn’t about what happened. The issue is not about what happened then. It’s about how they plan to move forward. They won’t let it get to the point that they feel this is going to hurt their party’s ability to hold on to this power. They will continue to accept, and even advance, the complete lies that this election was stolen.

SCOTT JENINGS: I think that it is unfair to ask Bill Barr, a Republican who has been a staunch Republican throughout his life to answer the question and tell him, “Your choices are to abandon all your political values system.” He has already stated that he will support another candidate in the 2024 primaries. His position is clear: he believes Donald Trump shouldn’t be nominated again. It is important to know that Republicans strongly believe that the progressive mindset in America is bad. This is something Bill Barr said directly. It’s not because Donald Trump isn’t appealing to them that they aren’t interested in it being elected.

COTTLE – At some point you will have to choose whether salvaging democracy or your political values are more important.

KASIEHUNT: The purpose of these hearings was to demonstrate — not that the Republican way of running the country is better. I mean Liz Cheney is sitting up on the dais, she’s one of the most conservative Republicans in the party. These people are saying that this man, this criminally compromised our peaceful transfer power. This is where I feel people end up.

JENNINGS : The question is, but then, you have to be ready for the vote Democrat in 2024. Well, no —

[Crosstalk]

HUNT: This is how the system works.

JENNINGS, We are going to cross that bridge as soon as we get there. Let’s find a new nominee, that is what I can hear everyone saying. Let’s try something new. This is the first bridge that we need to cross. That’s it.

COTTLE. This is how to emphasize that you won’t support any man willing to destroy the system. But if it is the, oh-well, then I would prefer to have someone else, but if he becomes the nominee, yes, I will back him, because these men are so evil. It’s not the best way to let people know what your stand for. This is complete cowardice.
