Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said that the White House national climate advisor’s recent comments urging Big Tech to combat so-called disinformation represent the Biden administration’s latest effort to “control” and “chill” speech.
Jordan’sCommentaries were posted after an Axios meeting where Biden was advisor Gina McCarthy claimed Big Tech needs “to really jump in” and “stop allowing specific individuals over and over again to spread disinformation.”
Jordan shared his views with Newsmax Greta Van Susteren: “There’s a formula, Greta. It will be created by the left, which creates a narrative, a lie and some myths. Big Tech will amplify it and the media will cover it. If you question this, you’ll be called a conspiracy theorist or racist. Or they will censor you. This is exactly what Gina McCarthy wants Big Tech to do.
“The left doesn’t value the First Amendment the way they used to,” Jordan continued. “Today, if you don’t agree with the left, you’re not allowed to talk. If you do try, they will call you racist and attempt to cancel your membership.
When asked if he thought McCarthy misspoke, he said, “I don’t think it’s a slip at all.” He added, “Even if Joe Biden wanted to do good things and change policies to help change some of the crazy things they’ve done, I don’t think the left would let him. They’re in complete control of the [Democratic] party and part of their objective is to stifle the speech and use government to go after their political enemies.”
Jordan referenced the Hunter Biden laptop story as an example of the Biden Administration’s and media’s repeated attempts to crack down on free speech. Jordan stated, “I mean first of all, it was possible to claim that the Hunter Biden tale was real. And, in fact, it was absolutely true. Big Tech then went after you.”
He also commented on Big Tech’s treatment of COVID-19 content and on the paused Disinformation Governance Board. “If you disagree with anything Dr. Fauci stated about COVID then you too were insane. Then, they made the Disinformation Governance Board and had to stop.
McCarthy asking Big Tech to censor Americans “is scary stuff,” Jordan said.”It’s why the American people are so frustrated.”
