Justice Clarence Thomas, who had flu-like symptoms, was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, D.C., on Friday evening. After undergoing tests, he was diagnosed as having an infection and is currently being administered intravenous antibiotics. The symptoms have subsided and he feels comfortable. He expects to be discharged from hospital in the next day. Justice Thomas will take part in any case that isn’t under his care, based on transcripts and the audio of oral arguments.
Thomas is second in age on the Court, behind Justice Stephen Breyer (83), who will retire once a replacement is confirmed. Joe Biden has appointed Ketanji brown Jackson to succeed Breyer. Tomorrow’s hearings will be held in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Thomas appears to be on medication and recovering. But just as we have seen in the past, the Court doesn’t necessarily tell us when there are medical issues right away. They will not tell us much until they are able to say something good. That’s not exactly keeping us informed, but it is good to hear that he’s doing better.
CBS News’ Matt Pieper reports that the disease is not COVID-related.
Many Americans wish him well. Unfortunately, many on the left proved what nasty and evil people they are, and who couldn’t show any humanity because they are such creatures of the leftist narrative. They were not only lacking empathy for Thomas but also propagating delusional conspiracies about Thomas’ wife.
He should be healthy. He should then be impeached. He is an irredeemable Justice. https://t.co/cNYWLtWHgr

Many more were available.
The Daily CallerIn a recent article, he shared that his wife interviewed him for the Daily Caller News Foundation in 2018. She asked him what he had done to keep him going through the many challenges and attacks.
To begin the conversation, Mrs. Thomas asked her husband to describe some of his “lessons learned” in ascendance to the Supreme Court, citing his “wingspan” from “poverty in Georgia” to “left-wing radical” and more. “When you look at why you’re still here or how you managed to survive, it’s beyond me,” the justice said in response. “Certainly, it would be miracle after miracle after miracle,” he said of how he reached his current station.
Mrs. Thomas asked her husband what the importance of humility was in his work and life. “It focuses you,” the justice said, turning the conversation to the role of faith in his work. “Because it tells you not to focus on whether you’re praised or criticized.”
This was just the beginning:
“What really matters is whether or not you do what you are called to do,” Justice Thomas said. “Faith … it gives content and meaning to the oath I took.At the end of my oath … you say, ‘so help me, God.’ It’s an oath to God,” the justice said. “So, if you have a strong faith in God, then that oath gains in meaning and content. So, when you violate that, you’re not violating a contract or a mere promise, but an oath to God.”
“I go to Mass before I go to work, and the reason for that is not just habit,” he said. “It … starts you in a way of doing this job, a secular job, the right way for the right reasons.”
Obviously, Thomas is made of much sterner stuff than liberals — and that’s what has carried him through his whole life.
