Civil Liberties Group Joins Lawsuit Against Biden

The New Civil Liberties Alliance says it has joined a lawsuit suit against President Biden involving the administration’s alleged collusion with big tech companies.

The New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA) announced in a press release Tuesday that it sees the lawsuit, originally filed by the state attorney generals of Louisiana and Missouri, as a chance to “restore free speech to the social media platforms.”

According to the NCLA, the Biden administration used these companies in order to directlycensor conservatives.

“The government may not work through private entities to accomplish censorship that the First Amendment forbids the government from doing directly. This is exactly what the federal defendants were doing. NCLA is delighted to join forces with these state attorneys-general to reverse this constitutional outrage and restore free speech to the social media platforms that are today’s public square,” NCLA President Mark Chenoweth said in the release.

Reclaim The Net reported last month that the United States District Court of the Western District of Louisiana ordered that the defendants, as well five of the largest social media platforms, must provide documents regarding the suit. The court rejected the defendants’ argument that early discovery would be too burdensome.

“Certainly, it would be time-consuming to produce the information requested,” the court said. “However, this issue involves the alleged violation of a constitutional right – the right of free speech.”
