President Donald Trump called model Chrissy Teigen “filthy mouthed” in a Sunday night tweet, and she responded with a string of vulgar insults.
Trump criticized Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, after Legend appeared on an MSNBC town hall on criminal justice hosted by Lester Holt. The president suggested that the TV special undersold the significance of the First Step act, a criminal justice reform law he helped pass.
“When all of the people pushing so hard for Criminal Justice Reform were unable to come even close to getting it done, they came to me as a group and asked for my help,” Trump tweeted. “I got it done with a group of Senators & others who would never have gone for it. Obama couldn’t come close… A man named @VanJones68, and many others, were profusely grateful (at that time!). I SIGNED IT INTO LAW, no one else did, & Republicans deserve much credit.”

“But now that it is passed, people that had virtually nothing to do with it are taking the praise,” he continued. “Guys like boring… musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is—but I didn’t see them around when we needed help getting it passed.”

Teigen responded by mocking Trump for not tagging her in the post, suggesting he lacked the courage. Trump blocked Teigen on Twitter more than two years ago.
lol what a pussy ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president.

In a followup tweet, Teigen noted that she had no role in the MSNBC special before again calling Trump a “bitch.”
the absolute best part of his tweet is I literally didn't speak in the special, nor was I mentioned. I'm cackling at the pointless addition of me because he cannot not be a bitch pic.twitter.com/9ZkV7bh4FA

Legend also weighed in, suggesting that Trump is needy, and bringing the first lady into the fight.
Your country needs you, Melania

Contrary to Trump’s twitter tirade, Holt did credit Trump and the Republicans for passing the First Step act, which Trump signed into law in April, saying it is “projected to reduce the sentences of thousands of non-violent offenders in federal prisons.”
However, the “NBC Nightly News” anchor quickly added, “That doesn’t affect the more than 90 percent of the U.S. prison population which is locked up in state and local facilities.”
Teigen and Legend have long used Twitter as a platform to slam Trump and his family, sometimes in crude terms. Teigen also provoked revulsion when she discussed vaginal steaming during MSNB’s live New Year’s Eve broadcast this year.
In April, days after the passage of the First Step act, the couple appeared at a House Democrats’ policy retreat. On stage at the event, Teigen was asked what women should say more often.
“F— you,” she answered.
Legend also took the opportunity to boast of his wife’s pioneering role in attacking the president.
“Chrissy was ahead of the curve on making fun of Donald Trump,” he said. “She knew before a lot of people did that he was a joke and a conman and a clown.”
