Chris Christie has been trying desperately to make himself known lately. Axios recently conducted an exclusive interview about Christie with Axios in preparation for his failed bid to become the next president. You know, because nothing screams “vote for me” like feeding fodder to a leftwing outlet. To be fair, Christie is nowhere close to the only Republican to make that mistake and he won’t be the last.
But it was Donald Trump’s appearance that made things most contentious. Christie answered a question about an incident when Christie’s approval rating was 9% at the time that he left office. This was his reply.
@GovChristie swipes back at Trump after approval rating dig:
“When I ran for re-election in 2013, I got 60% of the vote. When he ran for re-election, he lost to Joe Biden.”

Unchecked arrogance can lead to a false sense comfort. What could be dumber than trying to discredit Trump as a potential 2024 candidate? That’s not to say you can’t disagree with the former president on issues and approach, but Christie’s shot is not only dumb politically, it’s also highly nonsensical as well.
Yes, Christie won re-election in New Jersey in 2013. He was blown out of office by Trump in 2016, according to last I checked. Does he think that conservatives are interested in the fact that he was a relatively liberal governor in deep blue states? That is supposed to be positive. My preference is to stop nominating people who are Democrat bastions. That’s part of the reason I’ve been so supportive of Ron DeSantis. The party should elevate conservatives who can govern under scrutiny. Not those whose whole careers consist of compromises to please liberal wine mothers.
And who is actually clamoring for Chris Christie’s 2024 campaign? Is there a constituency for that out there and I’ve just missed it? I don’t believe so, and I have no idea why he’s feeding into this delusion that he can resurrect his political career. Christie will lose if Trump enters the race. If Trump doesn’t run, Christie will get trounced. This hottie who tries to be both sides every day has no chance of winning. He missed his chance in 2012.
Anyway, I’m sure we’ll be getting a statement from Trump soon in response to Christie’s jab. This should provide some entertainment for the late hours of the week.
