CensorTrack with TR: Big Tech Censors 808 COVID-19-Related Posts

It’s Episode 25 of With TR, CensorTrack. This week we’re talking about a study that MRC’s Free Speech America team recently conducted. From March 2020 through February 2022, Big Tech blocked more than 808 COVID-19 posts. 

This study was more about biased censorship of COVID-19 than just warning labels slapped across nearly all posts that refer to COVID-19 or natural immunity. 

COVID-19 related censorship impacted 41 doctors and scientists. Twitter banned Dr. Robert Malone over supposed “misinformation” despite his advanced experience in COVID-19 vaccines. Malone pioneered the Moderna COVID-19 vaccines. Big Tech seems to know more about Malone than he does. 

Our research also revealed that more than 70 media professionals were subject to censorship for posting COVID-19-related content. Notable figures, including Mark Levin, Dan Bongino of conservative radio, Joe Rogan and Tucker Carlson from Fox News, Tucker Carlson from Fox News, Liz Wheeler (ex-OAN host) and Joe Rogan were able to withstand everything; fact-checks and permanent suspensions for COVID-19-related posts. 

COVID-19-related restrictions were applied to 21 news media outlets. Big Tech censored Fox News, Reason magazine, Just the News and Sky News Australia, exemplifying Silicon Valley’s motive to censor news angles that don’t fit the leftist narrative. 

Social media platforms had seven congressmen censored within our almost two-year-long period for COVID-19-related material. This significantly impacts elected officials’ reach because social media is a prominent form of communication with constituents, and censorship limits that opportunity. 

COVID-19 is a virus that has prompted 808 case restrictions, suspensions, and fact-checks. This makes it difficult for users to make educated choices about the virus. But Big Tech’s authoritarian crackdown on any speech that contradicts leftist thought is apparently more meaningful to society’s technocrats.
