On Sunday’s edition of CBS Face the NationIt seemed that their objective when they covered the Kyle Rittenhouse self defense trial’s not guilty verdict was to pack as many lies into the segment as possible. Moderator Margaret Brennan permitted lies to be told about Rittenhouse’s illegal purchase of the gun, his bringing it across state borders, as well as lies that he was a white supremacist and the nature of the riot.
The segment didn’t pass the smell test from the get-go. The video that started the discussion, by Mark Strassmann, continued his lie about the Rittenhouse bringing the rifle across state borders.
“In the chaos of Kenosha last August, Rittenhouse, then 17, killed two men with his AR-15-style assault rifle. He claimed self-defense. Rittenhouse came from Illinois equipped for battle and drove into the city. He knew outage already ran high,” he falsely proclaimed.
This was proved to be false by liberal media during the trial. The overzealous and sleazy prosecution didn’t even charge him with that crime and said in the courtroom that the rifle was in Wisconsin already. He was also accused of two other offences, which were ultimately thrown out.
But that didn’t stop Strassmann from pushing the falsehood and trying to tie Rittenhouse to racism. “The country is currently experiencing a moment of racial reckoning and vigilantism. Armed people are making self-defense claims.,” he added after having the uncle of Jacob Blake say they wanted to see him “spanked” in prison.
Brennan then brought in Derrick Johnson, the NAACP CEO and president Derrick Johnson. Johnson not only repeated Brennan’s lies but also expanded them to include an illegal purchase. “And here you have A 17-year old illegally bought a gun and traveled over state lines in order to secure property not his own for those who didn’t invite him, and he put himself in harm’s way based on the rhetoric that he seen on social media platforms,” he asserted.
Further, Johnson went on to suggest Rittenhouse rallied “Unter dem Banner der White Supremacy” with only minor pushback from Brennan:
BRENNAN
JOHNSON
“It’s not about the evidence”? It isn’t justice. This is character assassination for corrupt political causes.
He was not only lying in order to disparage Rittenhouse, but also because he wanted to help the rioters. Johnson claimed Black Lives Matter is “not an organization” and suggested the riot that night in Kenosha was actually a “peaceful protest” organized after “innocent” Jacob Blake was shot by police.
Brennan wanted to hide the truth, but it was an actual riot. Black Lives Matter, a Marxist group, was attacked by Blake, who tried to take his daughters from his girlfriend.
CBS’s peddling of lies smears against innocent Kyle Rittenhouse was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Coventry Direct and Facebook. You can find their contact information linked to let you know about biased news that they are funding.

MARK STRASSMANN He claimed self-defense.
Rittenhouse arrived from Illinois, armed for battle. Rittenhouse knew that outage was already high. A white officer had already shot seven black men in the back two days prior. This officer wasn’t charged.
Jacob Blake continues to be paralysed down to the waist. Justin Blake was angry at Rittenhouse’s verdict.
JUSTIN Blake: He wasn’t going into jail for his entire life. However, we had hoped he would be sent to jail for a few minutes and punished for his mistakes.
STRASSMANN – And he believed that Rittenhouse had been black.
BLAKE: They’d had him on the ground eating dirt or shot him dead on sight.
STRASSMANN – There are many things to be unpacked here. This nation’s current moment of racial accounting, vigilantism, self-defense claims against armed individuals who deputize, is reflected in its ongoing moments. It is also frustrating to see America’s two justice systems, one separate from the other. The murder trial in Brunswick, Georgia by three men has all of these issues.

MARGARET BENNAN: Kyle Rittenhouse explained that he was acting for self-defense. Biden acknowledged that this verdict was not perfect, but it is a part of the juror system, which we must follow. Your verdict is dangerous.
DERRICK JOHNSON, NAACP president and CEO: It’s difficult for African Americans to understand what was happening in that trial. Far too many people are in prison for offences they did not commit, or being charged for the crimes of others. Here’s a case in point: a 17 year-old illegally bought a gun and traveled over state lines to defend property which was not his. He also put himself at risk based upon the social media rhetoric he saw.
It’s difficult to see how the verdict can be reconciled with decades of experience for African-Americans. We see this as a warning shot to vigilante justice in America or particular areas.
BRENNAN. Kyle Rittenhouse has, for many in the conservative movement, become an icon. In a campaign video, which portrayed him as a white supremacist during his campaign, Rittenhouse was used again by the– of the current Biden campaign team. He called it defamatory. His mother claimed that it was.
This is all being politicized. It is being politicized. I wonder what the effect of this?
JOHNSON : The current political climate has permitted for such behavior. This was the case under the previous administration. Many individuals operating under the banner white supremacy, such as Charlottesville and the Pittsburgh killings at the synagogue or in Louisville, have escaped through this door.
Unfortunately, we will never have mature politicians who are willing to speak up for the country regardless of their political views and deal with the issues of vigilantism, mob violence, and, more importantly, the fundamental issue of racism in the country. This is something that we’ve never really addressed.
BRENNAN
JOHNSON – It’s not the fact that he is a white supremacist. This is the situation that people like him are in, where they believe they need to be in order to protect their property from peaceful protests.
Black Lives Matter represents a valuable proposition. This is not an organisation in the traditional sense. It’s not about a hash tag. It is about a value proposition. We are not diminished in our African-American lives.
You have to consider whether you value not just the lives of African Americans, but all people, when there are situations such as the Wisconsin incident.
He took up the role because of the political climate. It was a White Supremacist at the White House that opened up the floodgates to vigilante violence. That’s what is really at stake here.
