CBS, NBC Finally Wake Up to Abortion News, Fret About Florida’s New Ban

Ah, how NOW do they really care about abortion? There were many examples this week of Democratic extremism regarding abortion. But, they were ignored by all the networks. CBS and NBC reported on Florida’s passage of a 15-week abortion ban, but they were both too concerned about its severity.

Continue reading CBS Mornings, co-host (and Democratic donor) Gayle King alerted, “In other news, Florida’s legislature has passed a bill to ban most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. That’s similar to a Mississippi law that’s now before the Supreme Court.” She worried, “It does not include any exceptions in cases of human trafficking, incest or rape. Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to sign it.”

King added, “Florida is one of several states moving to tighten abortion laws. Anticipating a Supreme Court decision which could roll back or even overturn abortion rights established by the historic Roe v. Wade ruling.”

Generally for liberal journalists, “historic” is their code for liberal.

Over on Friday’s Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie reported on the Florida law and connected it to a possible conservative victory: “The U.S. Supreme Court has signaled it would uphold a similar 15-week abortion ban in Mississippi. A decision in that case though is expected later this year.”

Joe Biden, a radical abortionist and Catholic, was actually asked about this past week. The network newscasts ignored.

This week also, Senate Democrats tried to regulate abortion until birth. However, Joe Manchin, their sole moderate, stopped them. However, neither the morning nor evening news networks covered these stories. Florida’s abortion ban? That’s news because, in the minds of liberal journalists, it’s the extreme opinion.

GAYLE KING: Another news story is that the Florida legislature passed a bill banning abortions within 15 weeks. This is similar to the Mississippi law currently before the Supreme Court. The measure, if it is approved by the legislature, would become effective on July 1, 2005. The law would not be applicable to mothers who are at high risk for death, irreversible impairments or pregnant women with fatal abnormalities that have been identified by two physicians. It does not include any exceptions regarding rape or incest. It is likely that Governor Ron DeSantis will sign it. Florida is among several states that are trying to strengthen abortion laws. It is possible that a Supreme Court ruling could reverse or overturn the abortion rights granted by Roe v. Wade.

SAVANNAH GUTHIE: In Florida, the Senate passed a bill banning abortions in pregnancy after just 15 weeks. All Republicans voted in support of the bill, which was a party-line vote. The measure will be signed into law by Governor Ron Desantis. A similar Mississippi ban of 15 weeks abortion has been supported by the U.S. Supreme Court. However, a decision on that matter is likely to be made later in the year.
