CBS Edits Out Own Reporter SLAMMING School Closures Causing Mental Health Crisis

Longtime CBS reporter and chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford went viral on Sunday and Monday on social media following comments, meant to air on Sunday’s Face the Nation, that slammedOur elected representatives and public health specialists “the crushing impact that our COVID policies have had on young kids and children”and the subsequent mental illness crisis. CBS News remained positive. kept her commentsOut of the actual event.

Instead, CBS relegated Crawford’s stinging rebuke — which took place during the show’s year-end reporters roundtable — to Face the Nation’s FacebookAnd TwitterPage, CBSNews.com transcriptYou can also find out more about a You Tube video of the full roundtable.

Brennan’s full video shows that he has moved away from the hopes of Democratic Congressmen advancing their agenda and instead asked: “Well, I want to get to underreported stories as well, Jan?”

Crawford responded without hesitation that it was something “my kids hear me rant about…every day, so I might as well tell you guys.”

“It’s the crushing impact that our COVID policies have had on young kids and children. By far the least serious risk for serious illness,” She began by adding, “a healthy teenager has a one in a million chance of getting, and dying from COVID, which is way lower than, you know, dying in a car wreck on a road trip.”

Crawford was directly repudiating the ideology of representing the poor and standing up for those who are marginalized.

They have been the ones who suffered and made sacrifices, particularly children and those at high risk. The Surgeon General now says there’s an epidemic of mental illness among children. This year’s suicide rate for girls is up to 51 percent. Black children are twice as likely than white kids, and they have a greater risk of dying by suicide. That includes closing schools, locking downs and cancelling sports.

Crawford focused on the D.C. area, saying “[y]ou couldn’t even go on a playground in the D.C. area without cops scurrying — getting — shooing the kids off. Tremendous negative impact on kids, and it’s been an afterthought.”

The reality is that they are all in this together. “mental health”Things took a terrible turn, with long-lasting repercussions “the rest of their lives” if future decisions aren’t “measured and sensible,” Additional damage to the property could occur. “dreams” crushed, “future learning”Stunted, and “risk of abuse” incurred.

Before going to longtime Pentagon correspondent David Martin for his pick, Brennan voiced agreement: “Well said and frightening.”

Worse yet, CBS axed Crawford’s comments seconds before they would have aired. The transcript and video (links at the top) show that White House correspondent Weijia Jang stated. “we’ll see” About what happens to Congress in 2022. Crawford was set to follow. But Brennan went on a commercial break.

Following the break, the CBS tape skipped ahead to each reporter’s 2022 prediction.

JAN CRAWFORD: Oh, I — just for me, I mean, my kids hear me rant about this every day, so I might as well tell you guys it’s- it’s the crushing impact that our COVID policies have had on young kids and children. This is the lowest possible risk for developing serious illnesses. You know what I mean? A healthy teenager is one in a million at risk of developing COVID. That’s a lot lower than the chance of dying in a crash on a highway. They have been the ones who have had to suffer and suffered the most. This includes children and those from underrepresented communities. The Surgeon General now says there’s an epidemic of mental illness among children. This year’s suicide rate for girls is up to 51 percent. Black children are twice as likely than white children to attempt suicide. School closures, lockdowns, and cancelling of sports are all examples. You couldn’t even go on a playground in the D.C. area without cops scurrying — getting — shooing the kids off. This has had an unintended and terrible effect on the children. The truth is that it has a devastating effect on their potential learning and their mental health. Now, we know more about vaccines. Our policies must reflect a less impulsive and unreasonable approach to our children. They will pay for the decisions of our generation for the rest their lives. This is my favorite under-reported story from the last year.

CRAWFORD : David, sorry, but I was not attempting to assume your role.

MARTIN: It will seem so small compared to yours.
