Nancy Pelosi is the House Speaker. This was due to her pro abortion stance and being denied Eucharist at her local parish. According to two witnesses, Nancy Pelosi admitted to receiving Communion in a Papal Mass at her home parish on June 29, but that dilution threw off the church’s stance.
Mass was celebrated on the Feast Day of St. Peter the apostles and St. Paul, the apostles. Pope Francis was also present. The Holy Eucharist was received by her in the diplomatic area of the basilica.
Pelosi’s home bishop, San Fransisco’s Salvatore Cordileone no longer permits her to receive communion because of her abortion cheerleading. To receive communion she must repent of her abortion support and turn her back.
According to Canon law, those “obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.” She openly advocates for abortion, which is strictly forbidden according to the Church, and Cordileone acted.
She is clearly advocating grave sin because she can lead others astray. These were the grounds initially to deny her Communion, not as a condemnation, but to prevent her from making other Catholics think it’s okay to support child murder in utero.
The Pope now has the entire thing in complete confusion. If Archbishop Cordileone has the authority by virtue of the Church hierarchy to deny her communion on “pastoral grounds” as he said, then why is Francis undercutting his own appointed clergyman?
Catholics across the globe seem completely unguided on what to believe about abortion, particularly if their Pontiff appears to contradict Church teachings or his Archbishop.
Pope Francis is a confusing Pope, which has been a problem for Catholics since his inception.
