I reported earlier on new revelations about a federal subpoena to get any relevant records in Hunter Biden’s paternity suit.
The subpoena requested any records that Clint Lancaster, Lunden Roberts’ attorney, might have “regarding [Hunter] Biden’s income, assets, debts, obligations, and financial transactions… and all personal and business expenditures,” as well as any tax documents they might have on him. From January 2017 through the present, this request was made.
CBS’s Catherine Herridge said that their investigation showed the depths that the subpoena was plumbing, and that according to a former U.S. Attorney, they were “leaving no stone unturned,” that they were seeking documents related to 1) the flow of money into and out of his account and 2) things related to his taxes.

Following the 2020 subpoena, both the IRS and FBI visited Lancaster to interview him and Lunden Roberts. In February, Lunden Roberts was called to testify before the grand jury. As Herridge notes, there’s something in those records that they want her to testify about “so it’s the data chain that really matters here.”
Herridge was asked by one of the anchors if she believed this information to be related to Joe Biden. Herridge said she didn’t want to speculate, noting that the White House has claimed that Joe Biden wasn’t involved. But Herridge added that they had also found out in the process of their investigation about another subpoena that was issued in 2019 sought not only Hunter Biden’s records but “all records, documents and accounts pertaining to all financial/banking transactions” between 15 business entities and Hunter Biden, the president’s brother James, as well as two business partners dating back to 2014. Herridge noted that the reason “that timing matters” was that Joe Biden was still vice president back then.
If you are talking about influence-peddling it would matter when. If there are things they can lay out on the connections when he was still in office — such as the meetings with the business partners, that could be very problematic for Joe Biden, both because he’s consistently lied about that but also if they were to find that there was a quid pro quo — picture with the big guy gets deal for Hunter.
We previously reported that Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-IA, told CBS 150 transactions were flagged for review by banks from Hunter or James Biden.
The records show that James Biden was paid $65,000 per month by a Chinese company linked to the Chinese government. This amount totalled $780,000 from 2018 to 2018. The records also showed that Hunter received money from the same company — $100,000 a month for the same year, in addition to a $500,000 retainer. This totaled to $1.7million from the company in 2018. What exactly that was supposed to pay for isn’t clear.
Grassley also explained that over 150 financial transactions from Hunter or James Biden were flagged as “concerning by U.S. banks for further review.” Some of those transactions involved large wire transfers. CBS reported that CBS is not sure of the outcome.
These records confirmed the stories that we had previously covered on the Chinese company’s $100,000 line of credit, which Biden and his family used for a spree of spending, such as airline tickets, hotel stays, and restaurant reservations. These records include what looks to be Hunter Biden’s 2017 application for the $99,000 credit line. It also includes the signatures from the Chinese executive.
We also noted that in terms of Joe’s connection to Hunter’s businesses, Tony Bobulinski had explicitly laid out Joe Biden’s involvement in the Chinese-connected company in 2017.

So, we’ll have to see how the investigation breaks this all down, but it does certainly sound, as Herridge said, that they are going all in.
