This story is a prime example showing why the label “groomer” is accurate. Ventura County’s public school teachers received legal advice to deceive their parents who have children suffering from gender dysphoria.
Substack is the subject of a blog post by Gender LCBQ. This article outlines the presentation made to teachers by the lawyers.
In November of 2021, the Ventura County Office of Education hosted a webinar over Zoom for area public school educators on “the legal and practical considerations for ‘affirming’ the identities of transgender and ‘gender diverse’ students” in school. This webinar gives a glimpse into the training process of county education offices in California for students who have experienced gender change. It was three hours long and contained 94 slides.
A variety of strategies were offered by attorneys to encourage students to accept a different gender identity. The following are some of the suggestions:
Encouraged to give students “get to know you” forms at the start of the school year to elicit students to declare their personal pronouns.
Encouraged to stop the use of gendered words like “mom and dad” and instead use gender-neutral terms like “parents” in the name of inclusivity.
I was told that while parents can opt out of complete sex education for their children, the same does not apply to LGBT inclusive curriculum.
Instructed that students have a right to privacy that trumps a parent’s right to know.
The lawyers also told educators that if they did not wish to obtain parents’ consent for their children to change their name or gender, they should refrain from keeping written records of discussions between the school and students. Parents have the right to see these documents.
Additionally, the attorneys recommended hiding documents such as Gender Support Plan. It is an outline of how to support a student’s social transition to the other sex. This includes things such as choosing pronouns and choosing the bathrooms/locker rooms that will be used, changing the name, among other items. The lawyers advised that teachers keep these plans “in personal possession” — which means they do not have to share them with parents.
Another piece of advice from the attorneys suggested schools issue two different ID cards, one with the student’s legal name and another with their chosen name. They could then trick parents into thinking nothing is happening. They also told educators they can use the child’s regular name when they send out mass emails to the families, and then change it back to their chosen name afterward.
These suggestions were specifically created to assist schools in keeping parents informed if children have confusion regarding their gender. But it gets even worse. The attorneys also gave teachers advice on how to teach about sexual orientation and gender identity without parents’ knowledge. The attorneys explained how teachers can incorporate progressive ideas regarding gender ideology and sexuality in the curriculum, without having to notify parents. As long as this is not taught within sex education.
Parents are required to be notified by schools about their rights to have their children opt out of classes related to sex education. The law only covers formal sex education. This means that problematic sexuality or gender teachings can be embedded in subjects not related to sex education such as physical education and social-emotional learning. This is a dangerous loophole teachers could easily exploit.
The training’s sole purpose was to assist teachers in cutting out parents from the discussion about sexuality and gender identity. Gender Support Plan is an example of state-sponsored grooming. It was kept away from parents. While teachers may not be trying to have sexual relationships with students, they do groom them to identify themselves as transgender. This may be one reason there is a 4000 percent rise in transgender girls becoming boys.
Progressives tend to complain when conservatives use the term “grooming” when describing these practices. But what else are we supposed to call it, when teachers, counselors, and other school faculty are blatantly working to help kids transition without their parent’s knowledge? These schools actively seek to hide from parents the fact that they teach children progressive views about gender and sexuality. Despite what the left wants us to believe, this is becoming all-too-common in America’s schools, and this story is just one of many that have been revealed.
