According to Brent Bozell, “the cracks are definitely there” in the media’s desperate, crumbling wall of protection of Joe Biden. This was the first appearance of President Media Research Center. Varney and Co.Tuesday, February 22, 2012: Discussion of examples of midterm Democrats in 2022 who are running against the President’s policies.
Bozell offered a sarcastic explanation of what a real Democratic ad supporting Biden’s policies would sound like:
Stuart, if you are a Democrat, and you were supporting Joe Biden, this would be your message: “Hi. I am so-and-so. I’m running for Congress, I support Joe Biden, I believe we shouldn’t build a wall. This should be left open for hundreds of thousands to come in illegally. And while they are pouring over, there’s enough fentanyl that’s been allowed to come in in the last year that it could kill 470 million people.
I believe in Joe Biden. I believe in Joe Biden. Our economic policy will bring you 17% inflation. You will see the most expensive gas in many years. You will be unable to pay your bills. You won’t get baby milk formula. Don’t be alarmed. Vote in Joe Biden for policies that will make you eligible to receive the lowest level of military enlistment recorded.
Bozell pointed out that The Washington PostMonday’s front page featured an article about the midterm Democrats who are running from Biden. He added, “But you’ve asked me, Stuart, over and over again, ‘Have the media turned against Biden?”Although I continue to say no, the cracks are clearly there.’”
The MRC president pointed out that journalists are attempting to report the bad news, but pretending Biden isn’t responsible:
Because of the negative news coming in every direction, there are many stories. They will often report on the stories and not blame Biden. It’s getting through. American citizens are not stupid. The American people understand who is accountable.
Here’s two NewsBusters studies where the press reported bad news, but avoided blame for Biden: On gas prices and the baby formula shortage.

11:00 AM ETSTUART VARNAY: There are some Democrats who have created new ads featuring Republican messages. This is what you should see.
[Clips of Democratic 2022 midterm ads.]
VARNEY: That’s running away from Biden, by the looks of it. Brent Bozell (media guy) is that gentlemen you see on the right. It seems like Democrats have put a lot distance between Biden and themselves. Do you think that is the case?
BRENT BOZELL: Stuart, if you are a Democrat, and you were supporting Joe Biden, this would be your message: “Hi. “Hi. I’m so and so. I’m running for Congress, I support Joe Biden, I believe we shouldn’t build a wall. The border should be open to all and thousands of illegals could move in.
We will offer you the lowest rate of military enlistment recorded in history if Joe Biden is your candidate. Vote— ”
VARNEY – Sarcasm can be a very humorous form of wit.
BOZELL: Joe Biden has got the lowest approval rating of any president in 70 years. We are in the wrong direction, this country thinks. Seventy-four percent believe that the United States is on the wrong track. These policies won’t change. They will only get worse. If you’re a Democrat in a contested race for reelection, then you will be the one who gets to see the big grass.
VARNEY – The Republican National Committee claims that President Biden has not answered a single question in the past 37 days. My suspicion is that his handlers deliberately keep him hidden. Do you agree?
BOZELL: Yeah. They aren’t asking hardball questions when they ask them questions. But you’ve asked me, Stuart, over and over again, “Have the media turned against Biden?” I keep saying no they haven’t but the cracks are definitely there. The story we are talking about — people running from Biden — that was on the front page of The Washington Post. The bad news is flooding in from all directions, so there are stories. Biden is often blamed for the bad news, but they are more likely to report it. It’s getting through. American citizens are not stupid. The American people understand who is accountable.
VARNEY: “The cracks are appearing.” That’s a headline I like. Brent, thank you so much for joining us on the program. Hope we can get you back soon.
BOZELL Stuart, Thank You.
