This was one fun story to write. It’s a shame that the left is so smug. biglyAfter deliberately running headlong into reality, everyday Americans. “Oops” doesn’t even begin to describe this one.
Our story begins with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) in April, with Elon Musk teasing her on Twitter about “hitting” on him.
And as my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported on Friday, Socialist Barbie™ threw a hissy fit last week about selling her Tesla and suggesting she “could care less” — for those you who take writing seriously, that would be “couldn’t care less” — about “billionaire” Musk and “what he thinks.”
What’s the surprise? Elon has once again come back to life. This time my man was back on fire. The painter took the item. Hard.
Musk played off the “politician vs. the billionaire” thing with a simple one-question “poll” on Twitter.
Which person do you have less faith in? Real question.
Politicians: 75.7%
Billionaires: 24.3%
Yup, beyond “oops.” With nearly 3.4 million responses, no less.
Which person do you have less faith in? Real question.

Here’s where it gets really fun. First, Musk:
AOC, I challenge you all to conduct the same poll together with your followers.
Go ahead!
.@aocYou are welcome to conduct the same poll among your followers.

While AOC went full-metal crickets after Musk’s poll, Army veteran David Weissman, an opinion writer for Occupy Democrats and self-proclaimed “former Trump supporter, and proud Liberal Dem,” took up Musk’s challenge and created his own Twitter poll — in all its smug-ass glory:
Let’s prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are by doing one of our own. @elonmusk, who are you more trustable?
Elon Musk: 81.2%
AOC: 18.3%
Again, “oops” doesn’t come close.
Let’s prove how phony the right’s ridiculous polls are by doing one of our own. Who do you trust more @elonmusk @AOC

To Weissman’s credit, he took the beatdown like a man by not deleting the results and “taking the L” — although he was completely baffled by the results.
Not sure how this poll flipped but I won’t delete it and will take the L.

Musk’s results are, incidentally. You already knew would be the case — just as he You already knew what the results would be with his own “billionaires vs. politicians” poll.
Let’s get to the bottom of it:
Elon Musk didn’t become the richest dude on the planet by living in a pretend world — let alone the pretend world of left-wing politicians. Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates did not do the same, despite their political views. These guys see trends before most of us know those trends exist — and often act on those trends long before others do.
Liberals, on the other hand — particularly far-left politicians — see the world as a zero-sum, 100-pennies-in-a-dollar game, in which evil conservatives, “billionaires,” and corporations do their damnedest to screw the rest of America; particularly the middle class, people of color, and the downtrodden among us, in their never-ending crusade to protect the world from the “evils” of “the far-right.”
So while the Looney Tunes of the Democrat Party may be represented by life on Planet AOC, it is still a question.
Who do you most trust — billionaires or politicians?
Oh, hell yeah — me, too.
