Trump Trolls de Blasio After 2020 Exit: ‘Polling at Zero But Had Tremendous Room for Growth’

President Donald Trump mocked New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio Friday morning after the Democrat ditched his presidential bid.

“Oh no, really big political news, perhaps the biggest story in years! Part time Mayor of New York City, @BilldeBlasio, who was polling at a solid ZERO but had tremendous room for growth, has shocking dropped out of the Presidential race. NYC is devastated, he’s coming home!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

De Blasio, who was polling in the single digits, made his announcement on “Morning Joe” with host Joe Scarborough, according to NBC News.

A Siena college poll showed he is less popular than Trump in the state of New York, according to the New York Post. De Blasio, whose term as mayor expires in 2021, sunk even lower with a paltry 26 percent approval while the president garnered a 35 percent favorable rating.

De Blasio made only six stops in his City Hall office in May, according to records reviewed by The New York Post. The mayor has been polling at zero or 1 percent in most polls and failed to qualify for the third Democratic debate set to take place next week.
