A report that showed Americans living paycheck-to-paycheck as their cost of living keeps rising was buried by ABC, CBS, and NBC’s evening news programs.
Fintech marketplace bank LendingClub released a report March 3, which stated that “[t]he number of consumers living paycheck to paycheck has increased steadily since April 2021 And was 64% in January 2022 – 12 percentage points higher than April 2021.” It got worse: “The data show[] that 48% of consumers earning more than $100,000 per year reported living paycheck to paycheck in January 2022 — up from 42% in December 2021.”
Of course, such news could be politically disastrous for President Joe Biden’s administration, so ABC World News Tonight, CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News During their March 3, March 4, and March 7 broadcasts, March 8, March 8, March 7 and March 9, they completely ignored this story.
CNBC highlighted the fact that the report accurately reflects America’s economic state as inflation continues its assault on the wallets of American workers.
The cost of living is increasing every day, making it more difficult for workers to survive. While wage growth is high by historical standards, it isn’t keeping up with the increased cost of living, which is growing at the fastest annual pace in about four decades.
Apparently the plight of most Americans struggling to make ends meet wasn’t worth any coverage from the pro-Biden evening news networks.
What makes the LendingClub’s report worse is that CNBC in January said that “Americans now say they need to be making roughly $122,000 a year to feel financially healthy,” based on a report from financial services website Personal Capital. CNBC noted that the $122,000 figure was “more than double the national average.”
Biden was protected from negative news by ABC, CBS, and NBC’s evening news broadcasts. Gallup conducted a poll on February 2, which showed that only 33% Americans are satisfied with the U.S. economic state. That’s a drop of 10 points from 2021. During their February 2, 3, 4, 5, Feb. 7, and February 8 weekday night broadcasts, all three networks ignored this story.
Recent news from the Big Three was that the U.S. National Debt reached a record $30 Trillion for the first-ever time in American history. The Big Three even blacked out news on Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev receiving a $1,400 COVID-19 relief payment after enactment of Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus. Tsarnaev participated in detonating two bombs at home in front of more than 250 people during the 2013 Boston Marathon.
Conservatives are being attacked. Call ABC News (818-460-7477 or CBS News (212- 975-3247) and ask them to cover economic reports such as those from LendingClub.
