‘Big Ben’ Excited To Be Focused On Faith, Family After Career

After Sunday’s 42-21 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is likely to have ended an 18-year stellar career in the NFL. While the end of a football career is daunting to some, “Big Ben” is incredibly optimistic about what the future holds and is satisfied with what he accomplished in his career.

He stated that he will prioritize being a great family leader and speaking out about his faith.

“Didn’t end the way we wanted it to, but it’s a blessing to play this football game. We are so lucky to be able to play football professionally. We have to count our blessings … I am excited. Just because I get to go home tonight…being a husband and father, you never take a day off. Keep going. And so, as we move from one chapter to the next, it’s going to be different, but it’s going to be fun” Roethlisberger said.

“I’m going to do everything I can to be the best husband and father I can be and try to expand God’s kingdom.”

Below is his complete interview with media following the loss to Chiefs:

Most guys would probably use the influence and money they’ve gained from the NFL to live the high life, buy fancy cars and pick up whatever number of women their heart desires. It is positive that Roethlisberger is focused on the things that last beyond football. He also devotes himself to his faith, his family and what this nation desperately needs. He will hopefully have the same success on those aspects of his life that he had playing gridiron.

His career will be completed ranked among the top 10 in all major passing categories. He easily makes it to the discussion for being one of the Top-10 most influential quarterbacks. The record holder for the most wins decided by 6 points or less in NFL History (a testament his ability to play close to tight games), and he is also the youngest Super Bowl winning quarterback. While he is often seen as polarizing, the impact he had on the game over the two decades of football can’t be overlooked. He will most likely go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
