Barr Slams Media ‘Temper Tantrum’ Over Trump, Russia Probe

Appearing on Fox News Channel’s Special Report on Monday evening in a two-part interview to promote his new book, former Trump administration Attorney General Bill Barr ripped the “mainstream media” for their role in promoting the Trump-Russia collusion hoax to take down former President Donald Trump.

Anchor Bret Baier began this segment of the interview with a mention about Barr’s disgust at the Russiagate scandal.

The big lie about the stolen election is what the mainstream media are focusing on. They don’t realize that there was an even bigger lie in the Trump Administration’s beginning. And that was one that was propelled and fanned by the media largely,” Barr replied.

When addressing the merits of the left’s claim that Trump colluded with Russia, Barr noted that it “was completely false it was never any [sic]It is the basis of it. And, yet, it kept the President pinned down for the first half of his administration.”

Barr also relitigated the controversy over the redacted Mueller report: “ I felt I had to put out something that says, you know, is he gonna be indicted or isn’t he gonna be indicted? Was there a crime or wasn’t there a crime?”

Baier noted that “many in the media saw that as trying to protect the President. That you were trying to shape what the results of that investigation were.”

Barr shot swiftly dismantled that notion by ripping the media claiming that they had a “collective temper tantrum” because they were “heavily vested in the Russiagate scandal” because they wanted to bring Trump down over Russiagate.

It’s sad that this controversy needs to be rehashed by Barr, but sadly the leftist media have worked to cover up the origins of Russiagate and the Clinton campaign’s role in spreading the lie that the Trump campaign “colluded” with Russia.

BRET BAIER

BILL BARR: Mainstream media are talking about the huge lie about the stolen election. It’s easy to forget that there was an even bigger lie in the Trump administration’s beginning. This was a lie that was supported and propagated by the media. It was the Clinton Administration that helped to get that ball rolling. Trump’s victory is a result of that. [sic]Russia’s collusion rendered it unlegitimate. This was false. It never happened. [sic]It is the basis of it. It kept President Obama in check for half his term.

BAIER: In the Mueller Investigation, After you meet with Mueller, write: [sic]Rod and myself broke up as we walked to my office. With concern, we paused in front of the anteroom. Wow! I replied, Bob lost a step. It’s not Bob I recognize. Rod said equally surprised I wonder if he’s ill.

(…)

BARR: Bob was ill when I met him. He was sick and I was worried about him. He seemed to be shaking and had a tremulous voice. He delivered the report that wasn’t redacted. This meant that there would be some time between when I received the report and when it was available for public viewing. I was forced to give the end result while redacting the complete report. It was important that I put something out that said, You know, is he going to get indicted, or not? Did he commit a crime, or was he innocent? Let’s get to the bottom of it.

BAIER, It was clear that the president wanted to be protected by the media. It was clear that you wanted to control the outcomes of the investigation.

BARR: That’s incorrect. There was no confusion following my statement. The whole thing was a collective temper tantrum of a large number of media outlets that were heavily involved in the Russiagate scandal. Und they were angry that Trump wouldn’t be taken down.
