An odd thing seemed missing from the CNN report of Kara Scannell Thursday: Michael Avenatti was sentenced to four years imprisonment for taking nearly $300K out Stormy Daniels.
This report reveals just how sleazy Michael Avenatti really was. CNN now calls him “disgraceful”
Michael Avenatti, a disgraced lawyer, was sentenced for nearly $300,000. He swindled Stormy Daniels, an adult film actress, to four years imprisonment.
Jesse Furman, District Judge said Avenatti was “so brazene and egregious”, adding that he “took advantage” of Avenatti because of her unconventional career path and unorthodox beliefs.
Avenatti was found guilty in February on one count each of wire fraud, and one of aggravated theft. Avenatti was sentenced to a maximum of 20 years for the wire fraud offense and a two-year mandatory sentence for aggravated theft.
Avenatti currently serves a 30 month sentence in prison for trying to extort more than $20m from Nike. He threatened to publish damaging information and make them pay him. Avenatti is due to stand trial in California next month on allegations that he took $10 million in settlement money from five of his clients. He was also charged with bankruptcy fraud, tax fraud, and has pleaded not guilty.
The report doesn’t show how many times CNN, MSNBC and other cable channels were in bed or just as much as Avenatti was hyping him like no other guest in television history. Avenatti appeared in a total of 254 times over the course of a year. CNN had the highest number at 122 guests spots.
He was so admired by the hosts that the host pushed Alan Dershowitz, a well-known lawyer out of the room. CNN would not have chosen Dershowitz over Avenatti if he was highly respected. Dershowitz gave his best explanation.
They didn’t want to hear my type of analysis. They could choose. The choice was between a Harvard professor of law for fifty years, who’s been doing it right and is centrist liberal with credibility, or Michael Avenatti. Michael Avenatti was chosen. CNN called me one night to inform me that we had to cancel your show. Michael Avenatti has been called and he will be on the show tonight. They trusted him as their “go-to” guy. Each of his predictions proved to be wrong ….
Trump promised him that he would soon be leaving office and that his lawsuit will bring about Trump’s demise. All of this proved to be false. It is my opinion that the networks should be held accountable for any predictions they make. Your show, or any other program would be great. It could just be a systematically based on what pundits predicted. We can then evaluate their credibility.
It is hard to exaggerate just how much CNN was in awe of the corrupt lawyer they were promoting but this clip of “Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter reveals that CNN’s adoration Avenatti extended even to the point of suggesting he should be taken seriously as a contender for president in 2020 because of his “presence on cable news.”
