OK, vaccines and protocols don’t work. And professional sports shouldn’t be looking into a long, dark winter caused by COVID. The experts and the politicians had all the “scientific answers.” Talk of temporary shutdowns and bubbles were supposed to be things of the past.
A majority of NBA, NFL, NHL and NHL players have been vaccinated and many more have had booster shots. The coronavirus continues to evolve and outpace boosters and vaccinations. The Omicron variant is roaring through multiple sports leagues, and more than a hundred NFL players are out with COVID-19. A single NHL team was able to handle 30 cases while a team with 10 NBA players has only 10.
COVID-19 has had a particularly severe impact on the Chicago Bulls (Chicago Browns), Los Angeles Rams (Los Angeles) and Cleveland Browns. This week the NBA postponed all games.
Jeff Van Gundy is a former NBA head coach who broadcasts on ESPN., “I really feel that at some point there’s gonna be a pause to our season, a bubble to our season. The way they’re predicting these cases to continue to go… I don’t see any way around it.”
Outkick reported that Clay Travis, its founder is trying to figure out what the COVID surge means about President Joe Biden or Dr. Anthony Fauci.:
“It was Biden, after all, who claimed ‘I will end this’ during a campaign debate. Biden was unable to end this, as we saw, so he claimed in July that the vaccine would be the solution. Yeah, guess not.”
Travis explained that COVID cases are a major problem in the NFL, NHL, NBA and NFL. “The sports leagues all have levels of COVID vaccination that are nearly 100 percent. They are much healthier and younger than the general population. But they’re all overrun by covid. The pro sports leagues data definitively prove that vaccines won’t end COVID. Biden’s lying.”
Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, said his league is experiencing “a new phase of the pandemic. Our perceptions of the pandemic’s dynamics have changed. And I think that’s going to cause us to challenge some of our previous assumptions and also update our strategies and our solutions.” Brilliant deductions!
Writing for Yahoo Sports, Charles Robinson’s story is headlined, “The NFL has hit a COVID-19 iceberg, putting Roger Goodell’s zero-tolerance policy to the test”. You think so?
New York Giants owner John Mara said it “seems like it’s never going away.” Nevertheless, the NFL is furiously working on tweaks to its COVID protocols, the ones that aren’t working. Yahoo’s Henry Bushnell reported that sports leagues and epidemiologists are throwing around all kinds of potential new strategies for coping with the reality of COVID. One recommendation is to allow asymptomatic athletes access COVID.
All of the regulations and scientific advice given by “experts”, haven’t prevented this crisis in professional sport and wider culture. Both Dr. Fauci and the president were only talking. Vaccinations have been failing left and right. Why should anyone think the geniuses in pro sports can gain the upper hand on COVID now?
