Americans Overwhelmingly Reject Progressive’s Gender Ideology Agenda – Opinion

At this point, finding a poll favorable to progressives and Democrats is like finding a steak in a vegan restaurant – it is rare in more ways than one. Another study confirms what many of us know already: Progressives don’t get it. Nevertheless, they still don’t get it.

These are the Department of Education under President Joe Biden plans to expand the definition of “sex” to include “gender identity.” It is part of the White House’s push to codify gender ideology into federal order, which would require public schools to address these issues in a way that aligns with progressive ideas on the issue. The Washington Examiner reported:

The Obama administration set the gears in motion by redefining the legal definition of sex to include gender identity, or “an individual’s internal sense of gender.” The Trump administration reversed this order, but the Biden administration plans to bring it back, which means that every school receiving federal funding will have to allow gender-confused students into the bathroom, locker room, or sports team of their choice.

In other words, even the schools prevented from teaching gender ideology as fact by state laws will have to act on gender ideology by opening up sex-based spaces and imposing federally mandated, activist-crafted policies that prioritize students’ gender identities over biological sex. In this situation, radical gender ideology is not possible. It might not be in a public school’s curricula, but it will almost certainly be a part of that school’s administrative policies by the time the Biden administration is finished.

However, a new survey conducted by YouGov for SAVE, an education advocacy group, revealed that a majority of Americans are not in favor of the administration’s plan. According to the organization’s press release, about 63 percent of Americans wish to keep the “traditional biological definition” in place while only 37 percent welcomed the Biden administration’s plan to change it.

The poll also found that 71 percent of respondents opposed allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports. Only 29% supported this idea.

A majority of participants also supported requiring parental consent before schools can offer student counselling about gender dysphoria. This approach was supported by 61 percent of participants, while 39% believed parental consent shouldn’t be necessary.

A further 69% believed that parents should have the right to withdraw their children from sex education classes. However, only 31% believed parents should not have any control over the issue.

This survey is coming as the Biden administration uses ham-fisted techniques to force public schools to teach progressive gender ideology to their students. The White House has been accused of plotting to deprive schools districts from funding lunches that are not pro-gender identity. Ian Prior, executive director of Fight for Schools, told Fox News, “what you’re seeing here is really the Biden administration saying ‘you’re going to do what I want or I’m going to take your lunch money.’”

He added: “For the federal government to come in and really tie school nutrition and school lunch programs to this radical ideology is terrifying, and it’s appalling.”

The question is: Does progressives really feel out of touch and disconnected with American citizens? Are they really pushing for this agenda simply because they think they will succeed, despite our opinions? If this is the case, we can’t expect them to pull back anytime soon. We can’t expect to reason with these folks. Fighting back is the only way to end this agenda.
