Wednesday on ABC’s Good Morning AmericaIn order to support the Biden White House’s PR campaign for Ketanji brown Jackson being confirmed to the Supreme Court, the network newscast interviewed three journalists. “lifelong friends” “who know her best” on “what” we need “to know.”
In the second of four teases, co-host George Stephanopoulos said he’s “looking forward to”Robin Roberts, Robin’s co-host on the show. “a really special look at Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson” Many thanks for “her lifelong friends” as she’s “set to make history.”
At the beginning of the segment, the latter exclaimed that ABC was the best. “a personal look at Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson”With “stories”Friends dating back to “their time as undergrad roommates to law students at Harvard.”
Liberal correspondent Deborah Roberts’s open couldn’t have sounded any more lame if the White House had sent her a script (click “expand”):
D. ROBERTS. They kinda pulled back the curtains about Judge Jackson’s story. They called themselves The Ladies when they were at college. It was a group of close friends who supported each other during college. Although there were fun times and parties, it became clear that Ketanji Brown, their energetic friend, was on the right track. He had been an outstanding student. The Supreme Court nomination of Ketanji Jackson Brown Jackson may bring the most cheers from this trio.
NINA SIMMONS: It was very exciting to see all the screaming and jumps.
LISA FAX: Laughing and crying at the same moment. It was a very emotional moment. It was amazing to see her standing behind President Obama when she introduced her, then watch her take the first step.
JACKSON – Thank you, Mr. President.
D. ROBERTS. Few people, besides their families, know this 51-year-old judge of the appellate court as well. Friends for life with an inextricable bond, which began over 30 years ago as Harvard undergraduate roommates and law students.
ANTOINETTE COAKLEY: I remember — remember, you guys — remember years ago when we were in our college dorm saying to Ketanji, you are going to be the first black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court? It is going to happen. This was obvious back then.
Boasting that Jackson’s friends believed she “always has had the right stuff,” Roberts used more clips from her confidants to add that the Supreme Court nominee “has always had their back,” including when one of them had breast cancer.
Roberts, a genuine propagandist, swooned at that “[t]hey all know the real Judge Jackson,” Anecdotes about Jackson are a common result “an amazing story teller,” “funny,”And someone who “loves to dance.”
Live with us GMA crew, Deborah Roberts boasted that while Jackson’s “been pretty private about her life,” she’s revealed that “her then-11-year-old daughter who wrote to former President Obama making the case for why her mom should be an appellate court judge saying she’s determined, she’s honest and she doesn’t break a promise even if there are other things she wants to do.
This led to the breakout of the set in a number of “awws” with Deborah gushing that there’s “nothing like true friend” and the team joining in, including Robin Roberts saying Jackson’s shown herself to be “a real person” (click “expand”):
STEPHANOPOULOS : That’s quite amazing.
R. ROBERTS : Yes, it is. This is amazing. We think about — I don’t know — everybody, think about the friends you’ve had in your life who have been there before.
D. ROBERTS: Yeah.
R. ROBERTS: And have — I can’t imagine what they must be feeling. Now we know.
D. ROBERTS: A real person.
R. ROBERTS: Yeah.
D. ROBERTS: Exactly. We have.
R. ROBERTS : Yes, that’s right.
While it’s common for there to be allies and friends of Supreme Court picks to be made available for interviews, it’s particularly embarrassing when a supposedly objective broadcast network accepts the offer and hands the administration a grade-A puff piece.

ROBERTS – We are back with an intimate look at Supreme Court nominee Ketanji brown Jackson. Stories from her time at Harvard as roommates and law students are shared by lifelong friends. Deborah Roberts will join us to discuss more of this. Deb, Good Morning!
DEBORAH ROBERTS : Hi Robin. They kinda pulled the curtain back on Judge Jackson’s life. They were known as The Ladies in college, which was a group of close friends who supported each other during college. Although there were fun times and parties, it became clear that Ketanji, their energetic friend, was on the right track. He had been an outstanding student. The Supreme Court nomination of Ketanji Jackson Brown Jackson may bring the most cheers from this trio.
NINA SIMMONS – There was much screaming, jumping and excitement.
LISA FAX: Laughing and crying at the same moment. It was a very emotional moment. It was amazing to see her standing behind President Obama when she introduced her, then watch her take the first step.
KETANJI BROWN JACKSON – Thank you so much, Mr. President.
D. ROBERTS. Few people, besides their families, know this 51-year-old judge of the appellate court as well. An unbreakable friendship that has lasted a lifetime, formed as roommates at Harvard and then law students.
ANTOINETTE COAKLEY: I remember — remember, you guys — remember years ago when we were in our college dorm saying to Ketanji, you are going to be the first black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court? You will be the first black woman on the U.S. Supreme Court. This was obvious back then.
D. ROBERTS
SIMMONS – Ketanji has the ability to bring people together, organize and acknowledge their strengths.
COAKLEY, That is what it means to me to be a great leader.
D. ROBERTS – Through many night studies and as a judge and wife, Jackson has, according to them, always been there for them.
FAIRFAX – I am now a professor of law and Ketanji helped me to make this transition. It was a great feeling to have her support me and make me believe I can do it.
SIMMONS: In 2014, my breast cancer diagnosis was confirmed. One day I look up to see Lisa and Ketanji at my door. It was incredible. This was an era when I had no intention of telling anyone. It was a time when I didn’t share it with anyone. She just showed up. I didn’t have to ask her any questions. She just showed up.
D. ROBERTS
COAKLEY, I believe people aren’t aware that she’s funny as well as an extraordinary storyteller.
SIMMONS: She is a dancer. That’s surprising? It’s not clear to me. It was college. We would be first to go. You’d see her dancing and having fun.
D. ROBERTS – So many fond memories of a time when they were just called “the ladies”.
SIMMONS: Ladies, ladies, go! Ketanji is the only one who would sing that chant. Ketanji would be the one to lead this chant on every dance floor.
D. ROBERTS – These ladies could not be more proud of their longtime friend.
FAIRFAX
ANTOINETTE – Ketanji wanted everyone to succeed. [SCREEN WIPE]We all benefited, I believe, from this relationship, and it has lasted us for many years.
D. ROBERTS. Although the judge was very secretive about her past, she did share a touching letter her daughter, then 11, wrote to President Obama. It argued for her mom being an appellate court judge. She stated that she is determined, honest, and doesn’t make any promises even when she feels like it.
HOSTS: Awww.
D. ROBERTS – Nothing is better than a friend.
Now we have.
R. ROBERTS : Yes, it is. Deb, thank you for that.
D. ROBERTS (Of course).
R. ROBERTS (Appreciate it.
