On Tuesday night, historic was made in southeast Texas as Republican Mayra Flores won a special election in Texas’s 34th Congressional District, becoming the first Mexican-born woman to be elected to Congress and did so by winning a district President Biden won by 13 points in 2020.
But not surprisingly, it fetched scant attention Wednesday morning on the English and Spanish broadcast networks with ABC’s Good Morning America (GMA) and NBC’sTodayThis is a warning sign for liberals that Liberals are hiding from the public.
If the following applies to you: Act Now, they completely ignored Tuesday’s midterms results while GMA had a one-minute-and-22-second report that focused heavily on Donald TrumpAnd how the GOP nominee for Nevada secretary of state questioned the 2020 election (as if this is a top of mind issue for voters outside of the far-left).
GMA co-host George Stephanopoulos began the segment by saying the “[r]esults now from another round of primaries overnight” showed “mixed results for candidates backed by former President Trump.”
America This Morning and World News Now Andrew Dymburt, co-host of the show, stated that races are “really seen as a test of former President Trump’s power and influence over the GOP and the results, a split decision” South Carolina. However, that wasn’t a lasting moment as the pair voted for Nevada. They then began to talk about 2020 instead of discussing the issues.
“And in Nevada, Andrew, the Republican candidate to run the elections, that’s the secretary of state, is a big proponent of the Big Lie about the 2020 election,” said Stephanopoulos.
Dymburt responded that Jim Marchant (R), was the secretary-of-state nominee. “made repeated misleadg claims about the 2020 election.”
CBS Mornings did come through with coverage of Flores’s triumph. Correspondent Ed O’Keefe said she won “decisively” in “a big sign of worry for Democrats,” adding that she’ll not only “represent a Latino district,”However “become the first-ever Mexican-born congresswoman to serve in the House.”
“It’s also the first blue to red flip of a House district that was won by President Biden in 2020. And so, it’s an early warning sign for Democrats of potential things to come this November,” O’Keefe concluded.
But for 86 seconds prior, it was focused on Republican victories in context of — what else — 2020 (click “expand”):
DOKOUPIL – Now we move to the midterms. Last night saw another round of primary elections. Trump-backed candidates received strong results in key battleground states. The influence of Trump’s former president could have major implications in the next midterm elections. Ed O’Keefe is tracking all of it from last night. Ed, good morning.
O’KEEFE: Good morning, Tony. You mentioned that Trump-backed Republicans won another round with decisive wins, including for many of those who claimed the 2020 election had been stolen. Let’s get started in Nevada, where Adam Laxalt will become the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate. His endorsement was given by the former President Trump and he has supported falsified claims of election fraud. In one of the races which could affect the Senate balance, he’ll be taking on Catherine Cortez Mathasto. Jim Marchants, the Republican nominee to secretary of states in Nevada is also on hand. As in many states, Nevada has a secretary of state who is elected and oversees the election process. Marchant said that he would have refused to certified the election results for 2020. He would be among Trump-backed denialists of 2020’s election results, and would supervise elections for 2024 if he is elected to office. There’s South Carolina. Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace defeated Trump-backed Katie Arrington in South Carolina’s first congressional district. Fellow Congressman Tom Rice lost to Trump-backed Russell Fry, who was one of 10 House Republicans that voted to impeach President Trump.
Telemundo’s Un Nuevo DíaThrough a short from Ana Maria Canseco, Daniel Sarcos and 32 seconds of their own brief, they were able to manage the task in just 32 seconds
EDGAR MUÑOZ: And yesterday was Election Day in Texas, where — for the first time in 10 years, it needs to be said that the Republicans won an important seat in the House of Representatives, which was held by the Democrats.
REBEKAH SMYTH: Mayra Flores, a Republican and respiratory care practioner, earned a significant victory in Tuesday’s special election for Texas’s 34th District after the resignation of Rep. Filemón Vela and by defeating her opponent, Democrat Dan Sanchez, by over 2,000 votes. Flores will be Texas’s first Latina Republican in Congress.
“A significant victory?” Why only 32 seconds then?
Over on Univision’s ¡Despierta América!Flores only managed six seconds on a very short via Satcha Presto. “Finally, the Texas special election gives Republicans a House seat.”
The networks covered special elections in the past. However, these were usually either a D to R flip or they fell for the Democrat.

Eastern at 7:11[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Breaking Overnight; High-Stakes Primaries; Mix Results for Candidates Backed by Ex-President Trump]
GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: To politics now. Now, results from the second round of primaries. Mixed results were recorded for former President Trump-backed candidates. Andrew Dymburt keeps track of the races. Good morning, Andrew.
ANDREW DYMBURT: Good morning George. These primary elections are seen here as an examination of Trump’s influence and power over the GOP. The results were split. Let’s get started in South Carolina today. This morning, five-term Congressman Tom Rice became the first Republican House member to vote against impeaching Trump. In an exclusive interview with ABC news ahead of primary election night, Rice defended his vote saying, “I did it then and I would do it again tomorrow.” Elsewhere in the state, Representative Nancy Mace who blamed Trump for the Capitol riot, fended off a trump-backed challenger, George.
STEPHANOPOULOS: And in Nevada, Andrew, the Republican candidate to run the elections, that’s the secretary of state, is a big proponent of the Big Lie about the 2020 elections.
DYMBURT: Yeah, that’s right, George. It’s Jim Marchant and he’s projected — he’s a projected winner in his primary and will now advance to the general election. He would take over future Nevada elections if Marchant (a Trump supporter) wins in November. His repeated false claims regarding the 2020 election were misleading. Now, it appears like Marchant will be on the November primary ballot as a businessman and ex-state lawmaker. These results from South Carolina and Nevada can be seen as a kind of Trump influence test. However, they have had mixed results. George?

Eastern: 7:10 AM[ON-SCREEN HEADLINE: Breaking Overnight; Primary Night Results; Several GOP Candidates Backed by Trump Claim Victory in Key Races]
TONY DOKOUPIL: Now, we are moving to the midterm elections. Last night saw another round of primary elections. Trump-backed candidates received strong results in key battleground states. The influence of former President Trump could have major implications in the next midterm elections. Ed O’Keefe is tracking all of it from last night. Good morning, Ed.
ED O’KEEFE: Good morning, Tony. You mentioned that Trump-backed Republicans have won another round with decisive victories, which included many who claimed the 2020 election had been stolen. Let’s get started in Nevada, where Adam Laxalt will become the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate. Trump endorsed Laxalt and supported fake claims of fraud in election elections. In the fall, he will face Catherine Cortez Masto in one of the races that can determine the Senate’s balance of power. Jim Marchants, the Republican nominee to secretary of states in Nevada is also on hand. As in many other states of the country, Nevada has a secretary-of-state who is elected and oversees election management. Tom Rice, a fellow congressman, was one of the ten House Republicans to vote to impeach President Trump. He lost his re-election campaign to Russell Fry, a Trump-backed state legislator. A big worry for Democrats from South Texas is that Republican Mayra Flowers won the special election to succeed a Democratic representative who quit his post early. She is the first Mexican-born Congresswoman ever to be elected to the House. Her victory is noteworthy because she will represent a Latino constituency. This is also the first red to blue flip in a House District that President Biden won in 2020. This is a sign that Democrats are aware of possible things ahead this November. Nate?
