On day two of confirmation hearings for Biden Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson where Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) exposed many of her previous comments showing how she has sympathy for pedophiles, ABC’s World News Tonight NBC Nightly News ignored Hawley’s line of questioning during their slanted coverage of the hearings.
ABC Congressional correspondent Rachel Scott began by complaining about Jackson. “her record against Republican accusations she’s soft on crime.” Then, she aired remarks from Senator Pat Leahy (Vt), who is not Republican.
“What do you say to people who say you’re soft on crime or even anti-law enforcement? Because you accepted your duties as a public defender,”Leahy wanted to tee up Jackson. “As someone who has had family members on patrol and in the line of fire, I care deeply about public safety,”Jackson understood the meaning of softball.
Scott reported then that Jackson was alive “pushed back against accusations she handed down light sentences for people convicted of possessing child pornography.”
This is what I thought as both a mother of children and as a judge, who have had to handle these cases. When I deal with something such as this, it is crucial for me that children’s perspectives, their voices are included in all my sentences.
The entire coverage for Jackson’s Senate Republican questions on Jackson’s records on child pornography, pedophilia and other issues was provided by this article.
The rest of the segment consisted of Scott airing questions from Republican Senators Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz, and John Cornyn about Jackson’s record defending Guantanamo Bay terrorists and Critical Race Theory.

After that gushing by Holt, he handed the segment off the chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander who also ignored Hawley’s grilling of Jackson (click expand):
ALEXANDER: Reacting to critics of her sentence in the child pornography cases she was on issuing a statement saying that it was too mild.
JACKSON: I have been a mother, and judge in these cases. It was a strange thought to think that anything could be farther from the truth.
ALEXANDER – Republican Ted Cruz highlighted several instances in which Jackson received sentences that were less than the prosecutors had recommended.
CRUZ – Do you think the voice of the child is heard, when the sentencing of those who are in possession of child pornography goes below the demands of the prosecutors?
JACKSON, Senator: Judges don’t simply calculate guidelines and then stop. They have to consider the individual circumstances of each defendant as that is a Congress requirement.
The one thing both networks failed to notice was Hawley reading Jackson’s past commentsFeeling sorry for an 18-year-old pedophile
Let’s continue to discuss this case. Also, you said that to the adult who tried. You are 18 years old. He also heard you say to him that his victims were your peers. Your statement also stated that you don’t believe you were a child pedophile. You then said that there was another reason to believe you were a pedophile. He would be given three months. He was not a child pedophile, you said.
Then you replied, “This is what I need to understand.” You then apologized. It’s a difficult situation, and I have to admit that it is not easy for me. To him you said that this was a very difficult situation. Your family will be there, which I am grateful for. It is my deepest regret for your family and the pain it has caused for all of us. It is terrible to think about all the consequences that this conviction will have on my family. You then go on to state that “sex offenders” are not tolerated in this society.
These comments are quite amazing and Judge Jackson appears terrible. It is possible that the networks wanted their viewers to not hear them.

Eastern at 6:37 p.m.RACHEL SCOTT: Judge Ketanji Jackson, defending her record today against Republican allegations that she is soft on crime
SENATOR PAT LEAHY, WHAT DO YOU SAY TO THOSE WHO ARE SAYING THAT YOU’RE AWARE OF CRIMES OR ABUSES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT? Because you have accepted your public defense duties.
JUDGE KETANJI BROWNJACKSON – As someone who had loved ones on patrol or in the line, I have a deep concern for public safety. I know what it’s like to have loved ones who go off to protect and to serve, and the fear of not knowing whether or not they’re going to come home again.
SCOTT: She denied that she gave light sentences to child pornography cult members.
JACKSON: I have been a mother, and judge that has dealt with such cases. It was hard to believe otherwise. When I’m dealing with cases like these, it’s important for me to ensure that my sentences reflect the views and opinions of the children.
SCOTT: Republicans pressing Jackson. This is the story of Guantanamo bay terror suspects’ defense by an ex-public Defender.
SENATOR LINDSEY GRAHAM: Did you ever accuse, in one of your habeas petitions, the government of acting as war criminals or holding the detainees –
JACKSON: I’m.. I’m..
GRAHAM: We were war criminals and held the detaintees hostage by our government.
JACKSON: Senator. I can’t recall that accusation.
SENATOR John Corneyn: What makes Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld, George W. Bush and others war criminals when you file a legal document? This seems outlandish to you.
JACKSON : I’m sorry Senator. That particular reference is gone. But I recall that I was representing my client.
SCOTT. Jackson in this case did not call the American government “war crimes.” She stated that Guantanamo Bay’s “torture” and “other inhumane treatment” at Guantanamo Bay “contitute war crimes, and/or crime against humanity.”
SCOTT: Republican Senator Ted Cruz is now questioning Jackson about race theory.
SENATOR Ted Cruz: This views all conflicts as racial conflicts. Is that a fair way to view society and the world in which we live?
JACKSON – Senator, no, not at all. But I haven’t studied critical race theory or used it.
SCOTT: Cruz reads from an antiracist book. This was the children’s book Jackson’s daughter is reading at. The judge also sits on this board.
CRUZ: Are you in agreement with the book being read with children that babies are racists?
JACKSON, Senator — It is not my belief that children should feel inferior or rejected.
SCOTT. Cruz questions Jackson about one child’s book after the next. The judge was furious.
JACKSON – Senator, I have never read or considered any of those books. These ideas don’t appear in my job as a judge. I respectfully address them.
SCOTT. Jackson declares her opinion on abortion.
JACKSON: Roe & Casey represent the established law of the Supreme Court regarding the right to end a woman’s pregnancy.

Eastern, 7:01:30LESTER HOLT: A good evening. The sense of history was in the room. Judge Ketanji Jackson was the first African-American nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court. She was grilled and praised by Democrats and Republicans. Despite being questioned by the Senate Judiciary Committee for hours in her confirmation hearing. She was often dragged into political food fights by each side. While she is defending her judicial policy, “stay in my lane”, she spoke with emotion about her defense of child pornography cases. The judge also asked Jackson about abortion and she replied that Roe V Wade was settled law.

PETER ALEXANDER: Responding to criticisms that her child pornography possession sentences were too light.
JUDGE KETANJI BROWN JACKSON – As a mother, and as a judge who had to handle these cases, it was hard for me not to believe that there could possibly be more.
ALEXANDER – Republican Ted Cruz highlighted several instances in which Jackson received sentences that were less than the prosecutors had recommended.
SENATOR Ted Cruz: Are you sure that the voices of children are heard? Do you think the sentencing of those who have child pornography is too low for what the prosecution wants?
JACKSON, Senator: Judges don’t simply calculate guidelines and then stop. They have to consider the individual circumstances of each defendant as that is a Congress requirement.
