ABC Hides ‘Dismal’ New Biden Poll: 64 Percent of Dems Don’t Want Him

Joe Biden’s cratering popularity reached a shocking new low on Monday as the liberal New York TimesOnly 33 percent of voters favored him. Sixty four per cent of Democrats prefer a different candidate. Yet, ABC’s morning and evening shows have so far ignored the latest bad news. CBS and NBC barely noticed the “dismal,” “precarious” position that the President is in.

CBS allowed 23 seconds on Tuesday’sCBS This Morning.NBC was able to manage two minutes 18 seconds each on Tuesday and Monday nights. This is what it looks like Get it Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie warned Democrats: “Really dismal are the poll numbers for President Obama.” Reporter Kristen Welker explained the bad news:

This is alarming news for Democrats. These are new polling results. The New York TimesAccording to a Siena College survey, 64 percent of Democratic voters would prefer another candidate for 2024.

Welker, however, tried to bring good news for Democrats. She noted, “They also point to this other figure. The fact that President Biden beats former President Trump in a hypothetical match-up by three points.”

On Monday’s NBC Nightly News, Kelly O’Donnell told viewers that Biden’s “political standing appears precarious.” O’Donnell echoed Welker and added a hopeful spin for liberals: “That new polling does offer a positive sign for the White House, showing president Biden a few points ahead of Donald Trump when voters are asked about a potential re-match in 2024.”

Even though CBS MorningsOnly 23 seconds were spent on the negative news. Christina Ruffini, the reporter, also mentioned the possible match-up between Trump and Biden.

Now, as the President heads abroad, there’s a new New York TimesA Siena College poll has revealed that close to two thirds (63%) of Democratic Party voters believe that there should be another nominee for the party in 2024. This includes 94% of those under 30, But, it did reveal that Donald Trump was defeated by Mr. Biden in the hypothetical matchup.. But it’s clear Democratic voters are looking for new leadership.

Last fall, I explained in a NewsBusters study that the networks covered Trump’s low polls almost twice as much as the cratering Biden. Now that the current President’s numbers are sinking yet again — he’s in the 30s in seven of the last ten Real Clear Politics polls —  expect more journalistic sputtering on how to spin this bad news.

KELLY O’DONNELL: The president hailed the new law as progress as his political standing appears precarious. According to a new survey by the New York Times, 64 percent of Democratic voters would choose a different leader for the 2024 elections. Most cited was Mr. Biden’s age. He would turn 82 shortly after the election.

WOMAN – We are in need of younger employees. This is the bottom line.

MAN: It should be made available to everyone, yes. Your position is pretty high.

O’DONNELL: However the Vice President said Sunday they expect to be in the race.

KAMALA HARIRIS: He plans to run and, if so, I will run alongside him.

O’DONNELL: One clear warning, only 13 percent of Americans said they think the country is on the right track.

SECOND WOMAN: I feel like we’re taking so many steps back right now.

O’DONNELL: That new polling does offer a positive sign for the White House, showing president Biden a few points ahead of Donald Trump when voters are asked about a potential re-match in 2024. Lester?

SAVANNAH GUTHRIE:  A separate story in Washington. But politics is still very much in the forefront.

KRISTEN WELKER – These are alarming numbers for Democrats. New polling by The New York Times/Siena College shows that 64 percent of Democratic voters would prefer to vote for a different candidate in 2024. Age is perhaps the greatest concern for Democrats. Biden, at age 79 is actually more senior than Ronald Reagan during his second term. This is a difficult problem, according to White House officials. To make it go away, we cannot pass legislation. However, they also point to other factors. The first is to look at historical records. Similar poll results were seen in 1992 for former president Bill Clinton. [SIC]His election was again valid.

GUTHRIE: Where Democrats wanted a different candidate.

WELKER These people also point out this second figure. In a hypothetical matchup, President Biden defeated former President Trump by three points. According to new research, nearly 50% of Republican primary voters prefer an alternative candidate than Trump.

HODA KOTB – This matchup is also quite old. They’re both going to be in their late 70s, 80s.

WELKER: Here you are. A large number of people want to see new things.
