The White House announced on Tuesday that First Lady Jill Biden has been infected with COVID-19 after testing negative for the virus on Monday. The news came as she is vacationing with President Joe Biden and other family members in South Carolina.
“After testing negative for COVID-19 on Monday during her regular testing cadence, the First Lady began to develop cold-like symptoms late in the evening,” said the statement from Elizabeth Alexander, Jill Biden’s communications director. “She tested negative again on a rapid antigen test, but a PCR test came back positive.”
The statement notes that “[t]he First Lady is double-vaccinated, twice boosted, and only experiencing mild symptoms” and has “been prescribed a course of Paxlovid and, following CDC guidance, will isolate from others for at least five days.”

The First Lady is still staying in South Carolina and will remain there until she receives two cconsecutive COVID-19 tests.
The news comes weeks after President Joe Biden tested positive for the coronavirus. He left isolation two weeks ago after testing negative for the virus. So far, the First Lady is experiencing only mild symptoms.
