Morning Joe On Curbing Roe: ‘Illegitimate,’ ‘Nightmare Scenario,’ and ‘Wanna Cry’

Similar to last night’s MSNBC Primetime Programs, Morning Joe has reacted with predictable horror to the news of the leak of a reported draft Supreme Court decision overturning Roe Vs. Wade

On this morning’s show, Joe Scarborough said the opinion is illegitimate: “Obviously, the perception for 70 percent of Americans waking up this morning, is, is going to be, most likely, that It is an illegitimate ruling by an illegitimate judge.

Former Newsweek editor Jon Meacham portentously proclaimed that the decision is a “nightmare scenario” This makes us wonder. What are our chances of achieving democracy? Do we measure up to the job? Und, ich befürchte! We are entering the worst period of this test.”

Obama’s former Acting Solicitor General, Neal Katyal, said  “Honestly, I wanna cry. You know, I wanna cry in so many different ways.”

Scarborough and Meacham argued that it was against “public opinion”. Scarborough repeatedly used polls to show that 70% of Americans support Scarborough. Roe. Of course, the Constitution had a primary goal in setting life terms to SCOTUS Justices. InsulateThese opinions are not shared by the public.

As for those polls, moreover, if you asked Americans, “what would be the result of overturning RoeYou could imagine many saying, “It would render abortion illegal.” It isn’t true. It would simply return the matter to the states, the way it was for the first 197 years of the United States. Federalism is the most hated issue of the Left.

Scarborough did not acknowledge that Roe was flawed in the opening segment. Even liberal legal scholars had sharply criticised it.  Indeed, as we noted two years ago, one of MSNBC’s legal analysts, Danny Cevallos, said on Morning Joe This Roe is “It is time to turn the tide” because “even if you are pro-choice, Privacy is a right [upon which Roe was based] does not exist either in the history or the text of the Constitution,” He also said that Roe “Stands on weak foundational bases.”

To his credit, Willie Geist did say:

Joe points out that this is about the 30% average position the Supreme Court holds, as poll after poll demonstrates. This doesn’t depend on polls. This is based on their belief. Roe vs. Wade, should be upheld, whether it’s legal. “

Notice: Scarborough was an ex-congressionman from Florida’s conservative state panhandle who voted for pro-life legislation. Now he sounds pretty much like Rachel Maddow.

Morning Joe calls the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade’s draft “illegitimate” as it was sponsored by GlaxoSmithKline. GlaxoSmithKline is the maker of Voltaren (USPS), Dove, Gold Bond, and Xfinity.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI : A final opinion can be expected by late June or early July. Joe. So many moving parts. But, in the end, there are no major issues. This story has implications for the Supreme Court.

JOE SCARBOROUGH : I don’t mean that, For the Supreme Court, it is, in a simple word, illegal. Although the Court was always guided by law, they are acutely aware of the fact that it is America’s only non-elected branch. The Court had to avoid appearing to disregard public opinion.

This would hold especially true in today’s context, with the GOP’s may-makes-right approach towards Merrick Garland being sacked. Or Donald Trump’s elevation as his final choice . . Kissinger stated that perception was reality in Vietnam. Obviously, the perception for 70% of Americans waking up this morning, is, is going to be, most likely, that This is an illegal decision made by an unlegitimate court.

JON MEACHAM – Well, it seems that the crisis in trust in institutions is now universal. This is the worst scenarioYou believe that the constitution order can produce a greater union if it is effective. To safeguard the Jeffersonian affirmation of equality. For all its faults, to protect the rule and spirit of law. This system is worth protecting for more than 250 years.

As you are saying now, this Court decision would be the first. If the Court goes this far, there will be an incredible number of Americans that believe the system is ineffective, incapable of justice delivery, and cannot reflect the popular will.

You know what? One of the greatest questions in the age, the great question, is “Are you and me, or are we?” In this decade. What are our chances of achieving democracy? Do we measure up to the job? Und, ich befürchte! This is the most difficult period in that testing. You can now affirm your reservations regarding the ability of this system to bring justice.

WILLIE GEIST – Neil Katyal: This is a surprise, but it’s not surprising, based upon the oral arguments that we heard back in December in the Dobbs Case. Joe points out that polls after polls show this to be about 30%. Supreme Court It took. It It doesn’t rely on polls. It is about whether they think this Roe or Wade should be maintained. It doesn’t matter if it is legal.

You’ve been sleeping on it. You have read most or all of the opinion. Is your initial blush reaction? The substance and the second, this leak.

NEAL KATYAL Sincere, I long to weep. You’re right, I long to be able to feel the emotions in many ways.
