New York Rangers have one of the most passionate fan bases of any NHL team, and it’s no surprise then that the governor also received some jeers.
Kathy Hochul (Democratic governor) arrived at Madison Square Garden in time for the ceremonial puck-drop between the Anaheim Ducks & Rangers. As she headed to the ice, instead of receiving applause from the Rangers faithful, they hurled thunderous boos at her.
Hochul was a staunch champion of mask mandates, even issuing statewide protocols to “protect” New Yorkers from getting the Omicron variant (which was not as dangerous as everyone made it seem). While the mandates were ultimately repealed, those who supported them did not forget the hardship it caused to their lives.
