Wallace to Join CNN With New Weekday Show – Opinion

Well, that didn’t take long for the obvious to hit the news wires. As my colleague Bonchie reported earlier on Sunday, Fox News chief Washington anchor and the host of “Fox News Sunday” signed off for good this week in the waning moments of the broadcast. We all speculated as to where long-time Fox man would end up.

Axios: (emphasis original)

Long-time “Fox News Sunday” host Chris Wallace is leaving the network after nearly two decades, he announced Sunday. He will be joining CNN as an anchor for its new streaming service, CNN+.

CNN+ is a great opportunity for me to be a part of it.,” Wallace stated this in a statement that announced the news.

“I look forward to the new freedom and flexibility streaming affords in interviewing major figures across the news landscape—and finding new ways to tell stories,” he said.

RedState has been on top of writing on new majority owners Discovery’s plans to shuttle what meager viewership the cable network has to an online presence. It appears that this move is a block in that foundation.

Indeed, the network’s streaming platform was quick to shout about its “coup” from the rooftops on social media:

FNC made this statement as well:

In a statement, Fox News Media said, “We are extremely proud of our journalism and the stellar team that Chris Wallace was a part of for 18 years. The legacy of FOX News Sunday will continue with our star journalists, many of whom will rotate in the position until a permanent host is named.”
