76ers Guard Ineligible For Playoff Games In Canada Due To Vax Status

Starting Saturday, the NBA playoffs will begin with the Philadelphia 76ers taking on the Toronto Raptors. The 76ers won’t have one of their top defensive players when the series moves to Canada.

No, guard Matisse Thybulle does not have an injury that renders him unable to play. Because he doesn’t meet Canada’s strict vaccination requirements, he cannot play in Canada.

Currently, if any foreign national wants to travel into Canada, they have to have at least received two doses of any combination of an extensive list of available vaccines. But as Thybulle revealed on Sunday, his decision was not rooted in some conspiracy theory about how the vaccines do not protect you from getting COVID (which they don’t).

Thybulle detailed how he was raised in a family that had a more “holistic” approach to medicine and used a variety of different medical resources to keep himself healthy. Thybulle did eventually get one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, but after seeing that the vaccine was not the effective preventative treatment everyone claimed it was, the guard decided not to get another dose.

“I believed that if my position in society is to make a difference, then I had to do all I could to help the greater good. That argument of the greater good held a lot of weight for me,” he said. After the vaccine’s inefficacy was proven, “it only showed science that you could still spread the disease even if your body is vaccinated.”

He defends his position with as much vigor as he does on the court.

Thybulle, besides not being allowed to label him anti-vaccine, has presented about as balanced a defense of the sport world as anyone on the reasons why you should not get the vaccine unless and until you choose to. The vaccine is not as effective as all medical experts claimed it to be. It also doesn’t provide protection against the side effects of COVID. You don’t have to do it if you don’t wish.

Thybulle knows that the consequences of his stance could be wide-ranging, but he is willing to accept those because he believes that this is the right medical decision for him.

Matisse, keep going!
