The FBI’s presence in Kenosha sets off a cascade of questions, all of the answers to which should trigger every alarm in the book.
The Rittenhouse trial has been a marvel to watch, simply because the prosecution’s presentation of this case has been a train wreck of dumpster fires. We’ve watched as the defense has absolutely fileted almost everything the prosecution has presented, as the Judge continues to make statements that will likely benefit the defense’s case. But, there was something that happened in courtroom which surprised me. We were discussing the different videos taken on the spot and the results. Here’s the one video of one angle, of one part of the street, and then there’s another of this other angle, showing these people who were involved in the shoot. Then there’s the FBI drone video directly over the shooting, and there there’s another video on the ground in front of the gas station. Each of the videos provided its own unique view of…… wait…. go back a minute…. what’s that part about an FBI droneWhat is that part about an FBI drone??
Why was an FBI drone so close to the scene? Did we ever consider the implications of this? Any reason they consider a threat to your safety, our government can mass-survey you without warrant. This was clearly a public area and courts have ruled surveillance in public places can be done without warrants. However, local police resources were available. The FBI would not be doing this surveillance if it had no other way to stop or prevent what was occurring. No matter how legal it is, citizens should accept the fact that such surveillance is commonplace. Out of an abundance of generosity, let’s just say they were somehow justified with having a drone overhead, why this specific area? Kenosha’s riots took place on several hundred square blocks. Did they have multiple drones to monitor the area? Two simple answers are available to that question: No and yes.
Well, I am a negative guy so let’s start with no. Why is this only one drone? Why is this area the only one? Is it possible that you ended up in this one area, in spite of all other bad events happening in the city? Although I don’t believe in conspiracy theories and have not been one, it is strange that out of several blocks of Kenosha that saw violence that night, you ended up right over the shooting that will cause national controversy. I can’t be the only one here thinking that’s awfully convenient.
If yes, the next question is: How many? The FBI decided to purchase so many drones. What number of drones are needed in each location? These areas are important. Did these areas pose a threat? Local law enforcement was involved? They were they informed? Was the video feed available to them? Now again, out of an abundance of generosity, let’s assume those questions are answered in a way that justifies the reasons why, but what about the answer to the question: to what end? Are local authorities informed of crime in progress? Did they send them to the area where crime was in progress? Did the FBI use drones to stop or prevent crimes?
We should consider that maybe that wasn’t the objective of the drones. Perhaps they had been there just to record and use that video later to identify the culprits behind the looting and riots in Kenosha. What number of arrests has there been? Is it possible to estimate the number of prosecutions that have resulted from this video. What percentage of business owners can bring civil action against specific suspects? Is it possible to see video taken by all drones during that time? What’s that….? What’s that? The FBI has lost the video of this night. This means that we know the FBI has broken federal law.
It doesn’t matter what the answer to any of these questions are. We know they had at least one drone, but if there was one, it was over a really specific area, don’t you think? Were there more than one? If so, how many and what did you accomplish with them. And if none, WHY THE HELL WERE THEY EVEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
You are comfortable with unnecessary, random surveillance from an agency that admits to breaking federal law but has proved incompetent?
You are good. I’m neither.
