Signs Point to Roe v. Wade Being Nuked – Opinion

I’m not sure I ever expected to write this article, and just a few years ago it would have seemed impossible to ponder, but signs are pointing toward Roe v. Wade, the vile politicized decision that legalized and protected abortion in all 50 states, being nuked.

The Supreme Court is currently engaged in oral arguments. A live stream has provided some important clues as to where and how things are heading.

First, let me expose the arguments of liberal Justices. Sonia Sotomayor’s commentary was especially disgusting and blatantly political, not even bothering to examine the actual legal issues at play. At one point, Sotomayor actually argued that a baby in the womb feeling pain doesn’t mean it’s alive, which is completely counter to science. Her belief that protecting the life of baby in the womb was purely religious is also supported by her.

It is worth noting that this logic could also be used as a justification for all types of murder. It is true that the religious morality of not killing other people does have a spiritual component. Many religions, cultures and civilizations allow killing for different reasons. Modern-day Muslims even permit honor murders. Men can choose to kill each other, but it is not the norm. The belief that abortion is bad is based on religious beliefs. True, in some ways, but that is not true of all laws which outlaw specific actions.

But in the end, it doesn’t matter what Sotomayor says. Remember, the question isn’t what all the Justices will do as we already know where the liberals and John Roberts stand (see the compromise he offered). The main drama in this case is about the potential swing-votes of Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh. Do they agree with the conservatives?

So far, the answer seems to be yes, but don’t take my word for it. Here’s Slate’s resident pro-abortion reporter losing his mind at what appears to be forming.

There are many possibilities. It seems certain, however that Roe V. Wade will be repealed. Whether that’s a formal “overturning” or a watering down of it that overturns it in practice, abortion bans before and after “viability” will almost certainly be found constitutional going forward. That includes Mississippi’s abortion law, which is the basis of this challenge.

In my view, that’s a very good thing. A society that doesn’t protect the most vulnerable is not a just society, no matter how much “social justice” advocates want to obfuscate from that reality. It is an intrinsic evil that abortion must be considered.

This is also who we’re up against.

These people are sane enough to be able make morally sound policy decisions. This is a critical requirement for any culture to survive. Under no circumstances should the Supreme Court be influenced by lunatics threatening revolution if they don’t get to keep killing babies.

RedState will continue to cover oral arguments throughout the day. And if the big decision gets made today, we’ll have plenty of analysis and reaction. Keep watching.
