‘Carry at All Times’: Video of Random Woman Stabbing Boy in Front of Parents Shocks Gun Owners

Supporters of gun rights have expressed horror at a viral video of a woman apparently randomly stabbing a 3-year-old boy, calling it the ultimate argument for concealed carry.

The footage, which was captured by a surveillance camera at a nearby pharmacy, shows a family walking down the sidewalk Tuesday night in Tbilisi, Georgia. The mother and father are holding hands with their young daughter and son when a woman walks past them in the other direction.

The woman suddenly turns and stabs the boy twice in the face. She begins to walk away, but then storms back toward the boy with the knife drawn. This time, the mother shields the boy, and the woman tries to stab the girl. The dad pulls his daughter away at the last moment, while the mom pushes the woman.

The dad briefly tries to pursue the woman, but she waves him away with the knife and starts to walk across the street.

According to reports, the unidentified family had never seen the woman before.

On Wednesday morning, police arrested a 51-year-old woman in connection with the attack. They said the investigation is ongoing.

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the woman is being charged with intentional infliction of grave injury to the health of a minor. She faces 7 to 10 years in prison for the crime.

The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he will be treated for moderately severe cuts on his nose and cheek.

After woman stabs boy at random, calls for parents to carry guns

On social media, Americans joined the international outcry in response to the video. A number of gun rights advocates said the incident proved the importance of protecting the Second Amendment.

As the Being Libertarian media group put it: “Conceal carry. Because you never know where crazy is.”

Caleb Hull, a conservative social media influencer, suggested parents have a special duty to arm themselves. He followed-up by questioning the dad’s actions during the attack.

The crime rate in Georgia, and particularly in Tbilisi, is low by international standards, and, according to the U.S. State Department, “Firearms are readily available in Georgia.” Although Georgians must get a gun permit from the government, the restrictions are limited, especially compared to other European countries.

In the United States, concealed carry is legal is all 50 states. But some states make it extremely difficult or impossible to obtain the required permits. High-profile mass shootings in recent years have spurred mounting calls for greater gun control, even though the phenomenon is not necessarily new.
