Liberal Activist Says Conservatives Are Bigots for Liking This Cheerleader But Not JLo

Activist Ryan Knight suggested on Monday that conservatives are bigots for criticizing the Super Bowl LIV halftime show while liking white cheerleaders.

Ryan Knight, an openly gay podcaster and self-described “proud resister” of President Donald Trump, tweeted a slow-motion gif of a blonde Dallas Cowboys cheerleader flipping her hair back to make his point.

“When a white girl does this conservatives applaud,” Knight said. “But when two latinas do this conservatives say it’s too much.”

“It’s not even hypocrisy,” he added. “It’s straight up bigotry.”

Knight — who, like many liberals, gushed over the halftime show in real time — also tweeted Monday that Trump supporters “crying” that the performance was “provocative” should “shut the f— up.” His point seemed to be that Trump’s remarks about women on the 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape should be at least equally anathema to social conservatives.

The activist was not wrong that some conservatives tut-tutted about Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s performance during Sunday night’s halftime show. A number of commentators on the right found the Latina musicians’ dance moves too stripper-like for prime-time viewing.

Christian evangelist Rev. Franklin Graham said in Facebook post Sunday that the show reflected the decline of “moral decency” in America and showed “young girls that sexual exploitation of women is okay.”

The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh complained on Twitter Sunday that he “should be able to watch the game with my kids.”

“This should be a family event,” he said. “Maybe the 50 year old women can strip on their own time, not during the game.”

One Twitter user who shared Knight’s outlook accused Walsh of only being disturbed by “Latin Zest & energy.” But the pundit fired back that conservatives have been complaining about “inappropriate” halftime shows by white performers “for the past 25 years.”

What Ryan Knight didn’t see

Meanwhile, conservatives largely ignored the apparent liberal messaging embedded in the halftime show, including choreography that featured young girls held in glowing cages.

Knight also made no mention of the apparent reference to Trump’s hardline immigration policies.
