What a Joke: CNN Snowflakes Melt Down Over Anti-Biden ‘Let’s Go Brandon’

CNN’s morning show Day of the New spent two segments today whining about the anti-Biden “Let’s Go Brandon” joke trend often heard at sports stadiums across the country. CNN sneered at Trump’s slurred remarks, but it pretends to not be offended by the expletives directed at him, despite its delight in his foul-mouthed outbursts.

Maggie Haberman joined John Berman (co-host) and Brianna Kilar (co-hosts) during the 6 am hour. New York TimesThere was a commotion over the use of the phrase “craze”. South Carolina Congressman Jeff Duncan was photographed wearing a “Let’s go Brandon” mask and the liberal journalists couldn’t handle it.

Co-host Brianna Keilar complained, “You have a member of the House wearing this on the floor!” 

Trump-obsessed Maggie Haberman blamed former president for the bad trend. She whined that Republicans were in Congress to “troll” instead of legislate. You can bet that CNN would be giggling if Duncan were a Democrat with a Trump mask.

This is a natural progression from the place we were going.The past year has consisted mainly of the Biden people hoping for a committee to represent them in Congress. They hoped that Trump’s fever would break, but it didn’t. There are many people out there who don’t want to be a part of the legislative process at this time. They come to Congress in order to harass. They are in Congress to get attention. You see that?

 I mean, this is not — there’s nothing serious about this. It is done to draw attention. This is working. The only problem is that you have to go on the House Floor, once upon a while it was meant to be a more respected and treated differently. As we discovered on January 6, there are many people who do not see it this way.

Berman and Haberman again emphasized how horrible it was that a “sitting congressman” was wearing such a mask. Haberman concluded by claiming past instances of vulgarity were “different”:

I mean, look, I also don’t want to pretend that cursing has never happened before, but it’s, but it’s the way in which it’s being done. This is the House floor. It is the fact that these chants are being held at events Biden doesn’t attend. These chants are just popping up.

By “different”, Haberman means they were directed at people the media doesn’t like, so it’s okay.

At 8 o’clock in the morning, co-hosts became irritated by the absurd joke.

John Avlon (CNN political commentator) joined Avlon to criticize the trend for being unpatriotic. Avlon bragged about how he scolded a man on the beach with a “F-Biden” sign.

The chant has become more mainstream. The other day, I took my children to the beach. I saw a man with a jeep, parked at the beach. He had a flag with F Joe Biden written on it. Walking by, I looked around and sighed. “Look, there’s kids here,” I replied. He said ‘what it is man? It’s a free country last time I checked.’ The mainstreaming of chant that is actually about F the president of the United States is not patriotic. It’s trollish. It is trollish. When members of congress are bringing in that kind of language, you can’t then repair and talk about the need for civility and respecting a president when he’s from your party. 

Mara Schiavocampo blamed President Trump for the current trend.“There are many things you would be outraged to see in a pre Trump world.” She argued. Keilar finally ended the conversation complaining that it wasn’t “Just so gross“

You just have to laugh at CNN’s fake outrage. Where was CNN when a “sitting congress[wo]man” Rashida Tlaib, a Democrat, shouted, “We’re gonna impeach the motherf***er!,” in reference to then-President Trump. Oh right, they didn’t care. CNN actually tried to discredit the controversy. In her first TV interview, Erin Burnett asked, “I mean, it’s been nearly a week since you made those remarks. Are you surprised it is still being talked about so much?” Burnett even had sympathy, acknowledging the Democrat was “caught up in the moment.”

Here’s another instance of CNN’s hypocrisy. When Democrat Juli Briskman flipped off Trump’s motorcade, CNN was amused by it. CNN also hyped Briskman’s five-minute fame in order to win Loudoun County office, VA.

CNN was more impressed with a teenage protestor against school’s mask-mandates.

How interesting that CNN only expects “civility” from Republicans.

BRIANNA KEILAR : We saw something on the House Floor. A Republican member of Congress was wearing a mask with the words “Let’s Go, Brandon”. Jeff Duncan, a South Carolina congressman. Uninitiated people may not know that this was a result from the crowd shouting “F” Joe Biden at NASCAR races. However, it occurred during Brandon Brown’s speech. Commentator suggested that this was a crowd shouting, “F’ Joe Biden!” It is not a substitute for Joe Biden. You can see a House member wearing it on the floor.

MAGGIE HABERMAN : It’s a natural evolution of where we have been.Over the past year, it has basically been, you can imagine, any comittee which the Biden folks wanted to see in Congress. There are many people out there who don’t want to be a part of the legislative process at this time. They come to Congress in order to harass. They’re there to get attention. You see that?

This isn’t serious. It is done to draw attention. This is working. The only problem is that you have to go on the House Floor, once upon a while it was meant to be a more respected and treated differently. As we discovered on January 6, there are many people who do not see it this way.

JOHN BERMAN : It’s a one-word entendre. Although you explained what “Let’s go Brandon” meant, it is just a mask saying, “F” Joe Biden.” It’s exactly what it is doing. This is from the U.S. Congressman sitting on the House Floor.

HABERMAN, Yes. I – look – this is, this is – it’s a huge breach of, of a norm that you would — I don’t even, I don’t know how to describe this as a norm, because this is just something that I never would have even imagined somebody was going to be doing, was wearing a mask with that message. The goal of the agitating is not lost. It’s all about making people angry. This is the whole point. It seems that Adam Serwer’s column about cruelty, which I consider the point, is that. It’s also the point of trolling. That’s exactly where we are now. As you said, however, this is a current congressman.

KEILAR It struck me that this would not happen today.

BERMAN No.

KEILAR Back then, it would have been huge. But it’s not anymore.

HABERMAN, No. I mean, this has been – These, these, these changes don’t take place overnight. This was the four-year period in which norms were being eroded. It happened over four years. And it’s just an important — what I see — when I look at that mask, in addition to the trolling, what I see is a – cause, I mean, look, I also don’t want to pretend that cursing has never happened before, but it’s, but it’s the way in which it’s being done. This is the House floor. It is the fact that these chants are being held at events Biden doesn’t attend. These chants are just popping up.It is. It is the biggest difference. It was also very wrong for those who assumed that the world would end after January 6.

KEILAR Maggie it is great to have you here this morning.

HABERMAN : I am grateful.

KEILAR : We are so grateful.

KEILAR:  I want to see what you guys think about the mask that we have seen on the house floor. I think you have seen this. It is a South Carolina congressman Jeff Duncan and it says let’s go Brandon. So if you have a friend named Brandon, maybe you think this is funny. [laughter] But What is actually going on here is that at a NASCAR race, a guy who won, the driver who won, Brandon brown, there was a cheer coming from the crowd and the commentator thought it was let’s go Brandon. It was actually F Joe Biden. So really that mask says — 

JOHN BERMAN: F Joe Biden. It says one thing, it says F Joe Biden. 

MARA SCHIAVOCAMPO: It is one of these funny political moments, like “cofefe” coverage, remember the cofefe coverage? So its kind’ve become a joke. I think they’re having fun politically

JOHN AVALON: It is quite different from the cofefe kerfuffle. This code stands for F Joe Biden. The chant is becoming more mainstream. The other day, I took my children to the beach. One man parked his jeep on the shore with an F Joe Biden flag. As I passed, I looked around and realized that there were children here. He said ‘what it is man? It’s a free country last time I checked.’ The mainstreaming of chant that is actually about F the president of the United States is not patriotic. It’s trollish. It is trollish. BERMAN – Look at it on the house floor. You can see the F Joe Biden mask that this guy wears on the housefloor. 

SCHIAVOCAMPO – I believe we are so far beyond what was normal in the past. These are just a few of the many instances where you would find outrage in an environment before Trump. They would have been fired and faced many consequences. The ship has gone. The rules are being actively rewritten in the post Trump world.
