Ron DeSantis Goes Nuclear After ‘Reporter’ Yells ‘Gotcha’ Question on Parental Rights Bill – Opinion

Media/left-wing narratives about conservative politicians and other prominent right-leaning public figures are easiest to propagate in the society if Republicans do very little or nothing to combat them. premiseas well as the facts to refute this story.

Fortunately, Gov. Ron DeSantis (Republican) is a master at this kind of trick and always responds to reporters who try it. There are too many instances of him doing this to document in one post, but the most recent one came during an event early Friday involving DeSantis touting a deal his administration made with Sea Lead Shipping company to move “part of its operations from California to JaxPort.”

DeSantis was open to answering questions, just as it is at such public appearances. One of them asked him his view on the protest against the so-called “don’t say gay” bill making its way through the Florida state legislature. Although nowhere in the parental rights bill is the phrase “don’t say gay” used, critics of it – most of who are on the left and in the media – have succeeded in getting the press to refer to it as the “don’t say gay” bill as well. After the reporter asked this question, DeSantis strongly defended that phrase.

“Does the truth matter or not? Does that appear in these bills? Yes or no?”

[…]

“You actually look at the bill, and it says no sexual instruction in grades pre-K through 3. Parents want kindergarteners to be taught transgendernism or other sexually explicit material.

[…]

It’s basically saying for our younger students – do you really want them being taught about sex? This includes all sexual matters. My view is that transgenderism and telling young children that they might be able choose their genders, has been a major focus right now. I don’t think parents want that for these young kids.”

See his entire remarks in this clip. Watch as he shuts down every reporter who misrepresents what the bill really says.

As it pertains to sexual orientation, gender identity and the like, you can see the entire bill below.

“Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

There is absolutely nothing to ban discussions on LGBTQ issues. It’s just that they should be. Developmentally and age-appropriateIt is the general theme of the bill that ensures parents are included in all aspects of the process.

It is understandable that parents need to be involved in the public school lesson planning process on sensitive subjects. Fortunately, DeSantis doesn’t give a rip, which I’m sure is one reason why he’s indicated he supports the bill even though it wasn’t something he pushed for as a legislative priority.
