Piers Morgan Stabbed Trump in the Back, Deceptively Edited Interview – Opinion

I have a feeling that Fox News’ Rupert Murdoch is going to be getting an angry call if he hasn’t already.

On Tuesday evening, Piers Morgan’s new show, which will appear on a new network called TalkTV (owned by Murdoch), put out a promo for an interview with Donald Trump billed as the “most explosive interview of the year.” To bolster that claim, the video shows Trump and Morgan squaring off, ending with a demand to “turn off the camera” and Trump allegedly storming off the set.

Murdoch owns The New York Post. It also reported Trump walking out of an interview.

NBC News has released a report that claims there was some disagreement over the 2020 election. However, it appears that Trump and Morgan were at odds. DidEnd things friendly. That directly counters the editing of the promo and the prior reporting on the incident by Murdoch’s various properties.

WASHINGTON — An audio recording obtained by NBC News appears to show that former President Donald Trump’s highly publicized interview with Piers Morgan did not end with Trump storming off the set, as edited promotional video clips suggest.

Instead, according to the recording, which was provided by Trump’s spokesman, the two men thanked each other and laughed at the conclusion of the interview for Talk TV, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp.

Talk TV, which is set to debut Monday, teased the interview — billed as “the most explosive interview of the year” — in a video summary that is dramatized with cinematic music and portrays Trump as being angry about the content of questions Morgan asked. According to the New York Post (also owned by News Corp), the video of the walkout was reported.

We don’t have the actual audio yet, but if NBC News is saying it exists in a write-up that defends Trump, you can take it to the bank. That’s not an outlet that is going to run cover for the former president in any way. Because of the historical relationship between them.

It is my personal regret that I made the promotional video as it was presented. Even though I know Piers Morgan is a leftist hack, I thought I could trust that a Murdoch-owned property wouldn’t outright lie about something as big as an interview with Trump, especially given the two have always been friendly. Where is this world going? Past that, I sincerely hope the Post, even though they are also owned by Murdoch’s conglomerate (and you would think had inside information), just made an honest mistake here and wasn’t part of a scheme to promote this interview as something it wasn’t.

You can also expect the entire interview to be equally bad if you watch the promo. Morgan and Trump did have a heated exchange about 2020. That much is true because even selective editing can’t invent those exchanges, and those heated moments will headline things. It shouldn’t have been shown that they parted ways after the interview was over and neither man walked off happy.

It reminds me of the Leslie Stahl interview that Trump did for 60 Minutes a few years back. The response to this should be: Give up on these garbage interviewers. You will either be lied about or baited by them. You will never find a situation where everything is handled fair. As I mentioned in the previous article, do notThis group can discuss the 2020 election. It will be used as fodder for them to paint legitimately expressed concerns as stupid and without an argument. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened here. It is not worth continuing to follow that path with media.

The primary problem is not with Stahl, but with the network’s dishonesty. The secondary issue is the decision to do these interviews. If the mainstream media are “fake news,” and by and large, they are, then live that out by making these outlets sit on the sidelines and seethe. Dave Portnoy is the one who has given Trump the most successful interview in half a decade. These are the interviewers to whom he should devote his time. Piers Morgan and Lester Holt aren’t the ones he should be giving his time to. You can’t complain about traps if you continue walking into them.

It’s going to be very interesting to see who Trump blames here once he makes an official statement. Is it going to be Morgan or Murdoch – or both? Fox News is indirectly involved in the matter via its ownership. The former president will have to be assured by Fox News that they did not know about the incident. Heck, I’m still astonished that it happened at all. Newscorp should not have to destroy a bridge so important for an unproven stunt like Piers Morgan. You need some corrective measures.
