On Sunday, it was anti-Trump melodrama at its best on Jonathan Capehart’s MSNBC program.
Michael Beschloss is a liberal historian who has become a Twitter troll. Looked directly at the camera [see screencap]And beseeched them: “Vote as if your life depends on it. It might.
Then, Beschloss was panicked and asked Capehart: “Can we survive this?”
“I don’t know,” replied Beschloss.
But before poor Jonathan could do something rash, Beschloss added that he doubted there’d be an actual civil war in a military sense, and noted that America overcame the fascist threat of the 1930s.
Beschloss, who was recently in a gaggle of liberal historians invited to the White House to adviser Biden before the raid, made two incendiary claims:
— Kevin said that he had spoken with him. McCarthy threatened Merrick Garland with violence if Trump wasn’t laid off, and he did. This is a possible threat to violence. “When Republicans take back the House we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned. Attorney General Garland, preserve your documents and clear your calendar.”
He claimed that there had been reports that Trump attempted to communicate with Garland by saying “That’s what I want.” unless he were granted some form of immunity, there would be “civil war.”
Trump also asked the federal appeals court to declare that Trump has absolute presidential immunity against civil lawsuits in relation to his plans to continue to be president after 2020. This is different than Trump threatening Garland by civil war, if he weren’t granted immunity.
Are Beschloss allowed to quote verses and chapters in support of his defamatory accusations? If so, rather than McCarthy or Trump, it’s Beschloss who could be rightly accused of potentially inciting violence He stirred up fear in the audience and begged them to vote.

10:54 am EDTMICHAEL BESCHLOSS : It’s been said that this election was one of the most significant in human history. You’re pretty close.
AlsoTo our friends who are looking at us, I’d say: Vote like your life depend on it. It might.
JONATHAN CAPEHART : It was actually before Mar-a-Lago.
BESCHLOSS: Yes.
CAPEHART – It is unprecedented to be the owner of the residence of a President of the United States. First time ever. How would you describe this week to President Obama?
BESCHLOSS He didn’t need that advice.
Jonathan, you know what I loathed the most? Not just that Donald Trump did things no other ex-president had ever done. Your newspaper reported that you have national security documents and nuclear documents. [the Washington Post]This could pose a risk to our children if the information is made public, given to an outside government or to terrorists. It is the President’s job to safeguard, not do this.
But wait, there’s more! Kevin McCarthy, threatened—the possible next Speaker of the House if the Republicans win—Threatened an attorney general and stated, You better lay off Trump. Or else, there will be violence. This is the first time that we have ever witnessed it in American history.
Reports even say that Trump attempted to communicate to Merrick Grland, saying that without some type of immunity you will have to go to civil war. It’s an attack. It is not right for anyone. Ex-president for all.
CAPEHART AND Your last response is the scariest thing I have ever heard or can imagine. Will we be able to get through this?
BESCHLOSS: It’s not clear to me.
However, I think you should look back at the two times I mentioned. In 1861, there was a civil conflict. God Save Us, that is not what I think will occur in the sense of military operations on the battlefield.
The fascist waves of the 1930s were overthrown by us. This is the good part. We can get past moments like these. Let’s all pray for that.
CAPEHART: God hears your words. Michael Beschloss: Thank you so much for returning to Sunday’s Show.
BESCHLOSS LOVED IT ALWAYS: Thank you.
