Dem Congresswoman to Resign After Allegations of Illicit Bisexual Relationships With Aides

Rep. Katie Hill is resigning from Congress following allegations of inappropriate sexual relationships with staffers in her office and on her congressional campaign, Politico reported.

The freshman California Democrat will resign by the end of the week, the outlet said, citing two Democratic sources.

Hill is under investigation by the House Committee on Ethics over accusations that she had an extramarital affair with her legislative director, Graham Kelly. She is the first member of Congress to trigger #MeToo regulations barring relationships between lawmakers and aides they supervise.

Hill has denied having an affair with Kelly, but admitted on Wednesday to having what she called an “inappropriate relationship” with a female campaign staffer.

“During the final tumultuous years of my abusive marriage, I became involved in a relationship with someone from my campaign,” Hill wrote in an email to her supporters. “I know that even a consensual relationship with a subordinate is inappropriate, but I still allowed it to happen despite my better judgement.”

The conservative blog RedState first published racy and unclothed photos of Hill in an Oct. 18 article about her alleged sexual relationship with Kelly and her female campaign staffer, who has not been named.

On Thursday, Hill’s attorneys demanded that the Daily Mail remove from its website another trove of sexual photos it published of the congresswoman. They also accused the British tabloid of libeling Hill by describing a tattoo seen on her hip in one of the photos it published Thursday as a “Nazi-era Iron Cross.”

Neither Hill’s office, Red State or the Daily Mail responded to requests for comment.
