Kamala Harris’s internal abuse of her vice-president in the past year is unlike any other. Although many hated Dick Cheney’s leadership style, he enjoyed full support from George W. Bush. Regarding Harris and Joe Biden, you’d probably have to go back to George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan arguing heads in order to discover that tension between an administration’s second-in command.
RedState has chronicled much of the conflict, including the White House’s complaints about Harris essentially being a deadbeat on the job. In fact, the vice president’s “lack of focus” has become such an issue that the president’s staffers have reportedly “thrown up their hands” regarding their attempts to work with her. Meanwhile, accusations from Harris’ camp include her being treated differently because of racism.
As it turns out, the dust-up happened in mid November. Following her embarrassing episode with a podcast host, Harris gave an interview on Sunday. She struggled to answer softball questions and fumbled around trying to give answers. When asked about the top foreign threat to the United States, she somehow managed to only come up with “our democracy,” which I assume was a veiled reference to January 6th. She couldn’t think to list China, Iran, or even Russia. Just “our democracy.”
Harris did not have the necessary skills to handle economic issues.
Kamala’s response to questions about inflation really highlights that constant complaint from her staffers that she “refuses to wade into briefing materials.” pic.twitter.com/EE8sGMBqYG

I’d tell you to watch the clip to hear what Harris has to say, but why bother? In these situations, Harris never says much and the clip was no exception. Clearly, the vice president wasn’t prepared to even talk about the most important domestic issue of the day when queried on it. Instead, Harris tripped over some badly delivered talking points about the supply chain and then mentioned the “Build Back Better” bill, a massive boondoggle that would only increase short-term inflation. Is any of that word salad supposed to make normal Americans feel confident that their government knows what it’s doing?
And that’s really the biggest problem for Harris: She obviously doesn’t know what she’s doing. In the past, vice-presidents were selected for their greater level of experience than their bosses. They were supposed to be the chief advisor and soundboard of the president who might or may not have handled certain situations previously.
But Harris didn’t have the resume of Mike Pence, Dick Cheney, or even Joe Biden when he was vice president (though, Barack Obama treated Biden like an idiot outcast and not a real asset). After previously being unsuccessful as Attorney General for California, which is not representative of the rest, Harris was elected to a backbench seat.
Harris seems like a perpetually failing student, who is always getting through to the next level. She was eventually going to be overwhelmed by her incompetence. This is why there’s so much controversy between the White House and the vice president. It’s not racism or “mean girls” drama. Harris, who is actually very bad at her job refuses even to try. She’s so lazy that she can’t even properly prepare for a friendly interview with CBS News.
Perhaps she has a false sense that her abilities are due to the praises and admirations that her life has brought her. Whatever the reason, it’s only going to continue to cause problems as this administration marches forward for the next three years. Joe Biden, who publicly revealed that Harris had been chosen as his running-mate, is Harris. He’s hardly blameless in the hand he’s now holding. This bed was made by the president for laughably cynical purposes, and now he can lie on it.
