Long before Joe Biden became the Democratic nominee for President, questions were being raised – even by other Dems and their media allies – about his mental acuity. His repeated appearances of being confused on the campaign trail and then later in the Basement Hideout Plan, which was devised by his handlers to contain Biden as best they could after 2020’s Wuhan virus epidemic.
These questions continue to be asked of Biden since his inauguration. Most often, these troubling instances like Biden’s bizarre behavior during Monday’s White House Easter Egg Roll on Monday have been caught on video and become viral via social media.
It’s even gotten so bad for Biden that even some polls show a majority of voters have questions about his mental fitness to lead the country. When asked about it at the time, Jill Biden scoffed, calling it “ridiculous.”
The MSM’s Biden defenders are also speculating about 2024 Democratic presidential candidate scenarios. They do so based upon the rumors Biden (who will turn 80 in November) will either resign or be rejected again by Democratic voters.
With all of that in mind, we turn to fresh reporting from the Washington Post about how Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has made it known privately that he’s considering a run for president in 2024 in the event that Biden decides to bow out:
“In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind,” says the [campaign]Memo from Faiz Shahkir, Sanders’ close adviser and campaign manager during his 2020 run.
One person had direct access to the contents of the memo, but he was not allowed to share it publicly. A second person also has direct knowledge.
Lest anyone wonder about the authenticity of the memo, a spokesman from Sanders’ Senate office seemed to confirm it in a statement:
“While it’s frustrating this private memo leaked to the media, the central fact remains true, which is that Senator Sanders is the most popular officeholder in the country,” said Sanders spokesman Mike Casca, when asked for comment. Casca and the memo were based on an unpublished poll.
According to a report from Biden, he indicated to former president Barack Obama his full intention to run for reelection. However, speculations are running high that Biden might be waiting to make an announcement about his plans in the future until he learns what former President Donald Trump is going to do. Biden and Democrats believe that he would beat Trump in any possible 2024 rematch.
Republicans are squeezing (and they have every reason to). A scenario in which Biden retires and passes the torch on to Harris (who is as popular as he was at this stage of their White House careers) is a great example. Sanders then appears on the scene. He actually makes a convincing argument that Democrats took the nomination in 2016 from him because of Queen Hillary considerations. Then, in 2020, he was abandoned by Democrats as they worried that Trump’s nomination would guarantee his reelection.
So if Biden does retire, and Sanders throws his hat in the ring to challenge Kamala, expect the admitted socialist to be loaded for bear because he’s got a lot of grievances to air with his party. He will also be supported by his loyal supporters who are amongst the most vindictive and fervently loyal people you will meet. Tulsi Gabrielbard (ex-Democratic candidate), a long-time Sanders supporter, is not fond of Harris.
Meanwhile, Kamala will try and paint herself as the “sane” alternative to Sanders, who with his support for socialism would indeed be a disastrous choice for Democrats going into the general election season considering they’ve blamed such labels for election losses in recent years.
It is possible that Harris will make it past Sanders after the infighting. However, Sanders’ hurt feelings could complicate Harris already uphill struggle to rise to the Oval Office throne. Her poor track record will also follow her wherever she goes.
There are a lot of what if’s and hypotheticals and “will he or won’t he” parts to all of this, to be sure, but one thing for certain is that you should stock up on the popcorn ahead of 2023 as things could get reeaaaally interesting about 10 months from now.
