Formerly Transgender Man Removes Nipples in Attempt to Shed ‘Human’ Form

“I know I’m stuck in a human form and that’s how I’m perceived by others – but to me, I’m an alien with no gender.”

A 33-year-old model who was born a woman and transitioned to a man has taken his gender-bending experimentation to the next level by removing his nipples in a bid to become an alien, a British tabloid reported this week.

Jareth Nebula, who declined to reveal his birth name, told the Daily Mirror that he rejects the labels “he” or “she” as too limited. Nebula would prefer to be referred to as “thing” or “it.”

“Trans/Agender, Demisexual/Graysexual, Blue Alien, MisfitGoth, Body Mods, Disabled, J-Fashion, Potato,” read a list of adjectives in Nebula’s Facebook profile description.

Nebula suffers from a rare, incurable condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome that causes him chronic pain, gives his skin an elastic quality, and grants him an increased range of motion in his joints.

“After coming out as transgender and believing I had finally found myself, I realized I was wrong – I wasn’t male or female, or even human,” he said. “I don’t think or feel like humans. I can’t really explain it to others – I’m simply otherworldly.”

“I didn’t feel comfortable as either gender or even anything in between,” he added. “I know I’m stuck in a human form and that’s how I’m perceived by others – but to me, I’m an alien with no gender.”

Nebula told the Mirror that his time as a “hyper-feminine female” came to an end at 29-years-old. That’s when he had surgery to remove his breasts, began taking testosterone, and acquired a masculine wardrobe.

But, according to Nebula, things still didn’t feel quite right. “I thought being a trans man would solve all of my issues and inner battles with finding out who I was, but I wasn’t as happy as I expected to be,” he said.

Nebula now rejects identification with any particular gender – a classification gender theorists characterize as “agender” – but accepts being referred to by “he” or “him” pronouns.

“I’d always been obsessed with aliens, too, and what it means to be extraterrestrial, so the idea of being an agender alien fit perfectly as an identity for me,” he said.

Nebula’s unconventional search for transcendence could be seen as reflecting a common criticism often levied against adherents of gender-fluid ideologies. Detractors argue that following transgender doctrine, wherein a person’s identity is in a sense untethered from biological reality, to its logical conclusion leads to absurd outcomes such as people identifying as cats, whites identifying as black, and old men identifying as young men.

Nebula is not the first man to seek to break from the oppressive bounds of the “human” label. In 2017, a Los Angeles-based makeup artist named Vinnie Oh made headlines after declaring he’d spent more than $60,000 on plastic surgery in an attempt to transform himself into a “genderless alien.”
